Which one is better, Plesk or Cpanel.
I have only used cpanel. And I am wondering
which of these two is better.

Thanks

Steve.

I've used both as well. I like the simplicity of Plesk.

I prefer cPanel because it has more tools than Plesk.

cpanel. But I'd honestly suggest looking at Direct Admin if you're open to looking at new CPs.

I would choose Cpanel for sure. Plesk is not used as much and it is harder to manage than Cpanel I think.

Direct Admin now is a good option to but not used as much as Cpanel.

I prefer cPanel also, I use plesk for windows and notice is very slow and doesn't have all the tools and features that cPanel offers.

Is also more expensive.

Most will choose cPanel, but I moved away from cPanel to directadmin. Only problem is if you need managed services cPanel is more widely supported.

I prefer cPanel to Plesk, as I find more weird errors in Plesk, and also find that more end users do need support with it.

I'll also throw in a vote for DirectAdmin, Very easy to use, almost like cPanel with less features, but the most used and important ones are there.

I have to disagree here.

We track which packages customers not only "click order" but also those that customers do order.

So we see what customers are thinking about along with what they actually order.

We offer both Plesk and cPanel on our site. Out of the two we have 90% more customers on Plesk along with seeing a 70% higher interest in Plesk products compared to cPanel.

Personally I prefer Plesk, but we offer both and that is the figures from what our website sees.

It's to the point we are debating on whether keeping cPanel.

computer literate customers seem to prefer Plesk, first time hostees tend to end up on cpanel because there are so many budget hosts offering it.

cPanel for sure, it's more "power user" suitable for admins. Plesk is "Windowesque" and more suitable on a user level. I despise those sissy-*** icons.

So, an admin would prefer to do things inside of a control panel rather than from the comman prompt?

An admin would like having a control panel that forces the options upon them, not allowing them to rebuild the software the way they want?

I doubt it.

No, if you want to refer to it this way then you need to say "Beginner Admins".

Well, you are correct of course. I was using the terms generically... bottom line: I feel that cPanel is a more robust tool as far as panels go. That was the question. Why have a panel at all if some one is a "SUPER ADMIN" and hand edits via Pico or whatever.

Let's all go back to DOS too, now that's a power user interface!

I prefer PLESK. It's easy to use for managing hundreds of your OWN domains. Takes a few extra steps to set up the new account, but once set up, it's easier to manage IMO.

Cpanel is Quicker for setting up hosting clients and is prefered by resellers IMO.

A high percentage of your admins are going to choose a VPS or Dedicated Server or host there own a lot of the time.

Control panels are for the rest of the world. The world who 90% of uses Windows XP or a very similar interface. The world that likes the familiarity that comes with specific interaces. The world that wants to simply log in and change settings and log out.
