Burst.net: 1000Mhz 256MB 9GB SCSI 25GB
Nocster.net: 1500Mhz 512Mb 9GB SCSI 300GB

The dedicated servers provided by burst.net seems to be much more expensive than the ones offerred by Nocster. Taking the above $199 plans for example, there is a vast difference regarding the bandwidth offerred.

What is the major performance difference? Why is one much more expensive than the other?

Nocster will be utilizing primarily Cogent bandwidth soon.

I dont think congent will be the primary , but it says on the site

IMPORTANT: Please note that the NOCSTER service plans only utilize the Sprint™ & Cogent™ backbones on BurstNET's™ current network. A 3rd backbone provider is scheduled to be added by the end of 2002.

you should search this forum for COGENT (lower case) keyword, there are a lot of posts about their bandwidth, pricing & performance

Cogent is not the worst, but they seem to get ripped for offering alot for a low price. From many friends opinions cogent are one of the best Tier2 providors. You pay more for the Tier1.
