I remember the owner of site5 was going to create some next generation helpdesk/billing software thing, but I don't know what happened to it? Vapourwear? Or are they using it for their 'backstage'? I thought it looked like an awesome thing to have.. I really would like to find out more about this.

Thanks

We have been using a built-in-house billing program called "Synco" for a little over a year. Out of Synco's billing/administration framework, we built "Backstage" as the customer-side account management portal. If you are interested in learning more about Synco, do a quick search on our blog (weblog.site5.com), and if you are interested in the customer portal, you can see a few posts about it on the blog or you can read more detail on our wiki (wiki.site5.com).

The Site5 system is custom built.

The CEO of Site5 was going to release something called "BillAdmin" (remnants at www.billadmin.com), but it ended up being vaporware, even though he told everyone it wouldn't be.

No it's not. Synco + Backstage + their various other nifty little applications that are being used to manage/support their customers are currently not for sale. To the best of my knowledge, there are no plans to make any of these systems available to the public.

(Kevin please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong :).)

well how bad does that suck?

Seems like they could just steal the market?

Agreed. I would love to see a nice software package like Synco available for purchase.

Synco can be clone, onces you can find a good outsourcing company or even a good programming team to build one.

I am currently doing a Billing Application.

It will not be like Synco right now but sure will have plug ins for ERP solutions.
All Application can be modified to fit customer needs, onces the engine is built to handle what the customer want.

Synco GUI looks nice, wonder if the engine behind that is good.
