The Raq 550 will Handle 1000+ Hits without breaking a sweat. Although I would suggest you add RAM. (maybe to 512mb or 1gb)
A Raq 4 with 512mb could handle that load as well.

With enough ram I am sure it can handle 1000 hits a second.
neviljer 07-10-2002, 04:11 AM Hi, my Raq4 with 512mb of ram runs continously with between 25 and 50 users browsing 40,000 pages per day.
It's running 2 sites, one ASP and one PHP... problems only come when caspeng (chilisoft asp) starts to munch memory but this can be helped by coding the asp carefully to ditch sessions/db connections correctly.
The biggest problem we face is hitting our measly bandwidth allocations here in the UK.
Does anyone know of a host with a good bandwidth allowance on high memory Raqs?
Regards,
Jeremy

What's your definition of good bandwidth?
neviljer 07-10-2002, 09:56 AM Hi, sorry forget to put in real numbers.
Good bandwidth would be in excess of 150gb per month.
We've gone from 5 to 10 to 20 to 40 in a short space of time so I'm planning for the next year or so ;-)
Regards,
Jeremy
blacknight 07-10-2002, 10:17 AM If you find anybody offering that amount in Ireland or UK let us know!
neviljer 07-10-2002, 10:26 AM Hi, yeah I think it's not possible over our side of the Atlantic.
I'm going to have to move the hosting to the US.
Ah well...

Yes, I know of just such a host! But, according to the rules of this FORUM I can't tell you.
If your question were to appear in the Hosting Requests Forum, then I could give you a suggestion on where to look, without breaking any rules.

Oops!!
Just my luck, try to answer a direct question and help another person out and I break the rules by so doing.
I've edited my post to comply with the rules
blacknight 07-11-2002, 06:26 PM The rules are the same for everybody.... in some cases they may seem extreme, but I think that they are fair overall
FiberOptic 07-11-2002, 08:53 PM mmmm
There seems to be other rulez for RaQ4less than for coloheaven?
check previous messages :)
neviljer 07-12-2002, 04:41 AM Well I think I've learnt my lesson and I'll post a statement about searching for a service in the Hosting Requests forum :)
The best online forums have the least blatent advertising and flaming etc. so I think we just had a shifting topic here that edged towards breaking the rules... maybe we could lock it to save further toing and froing.
Regards,
Jeremy
