Any other suggestions are welcome for a good laugh, and also any URLS of the culprits! :cool: Cheers, Dave secludo 07-07-2002, 05:45 PM One site that really bugs me is this: http://www.geocities.com/thewebcompany2001 She does web design, which I don't think is very professional for someone who uses a free service. But what is REALLY weird, is that she actually registered a domain and got hosting for a domain that is for her daughter's website (http://www.tylernicole.com). Why wouldn't she register a domain for her company and then make a subdomain for her kid's page? I just thought it was weird... Anything that interfears with that and I get pissed off. If you have a button... but, it doesn't turn off all sounds... I can't remember the site off the top of my head... but, -- It was flash. had music in the bg, clicked link... music stopped but, it still playing a looping ambient noise.... That bugged me... Instant close... goodbye. I mean, seeing Times New Roman again? :D Oh, and so do long Flash intros. Popups get closed by me immediately, and depending on how desperate I am to view the site content - I generally leave. Music... because my laptop is hooked into my HiFi system which is normally set to quite a high volume, any music that comes through causes me to leave the site immediately and *never* come back regardless of what is on there. Any music that is on a site gives it a tacky feeling and is inappropriate. If I wanted to listen to music whilst browsing, I would play what I wanted to listen to. --Shaun. microsol 07-08-2002, 08:12 AM What are popups? :homer: Elena 07-08-2002, 09:15 AM I can't stand pop-ups.. they tend to slow the page to a hault while it's loading and that really bothers me. I had popup-stopper once but that annoyed me too because links with a target=new would be considered popups and I didn't like hitting shift+click just to view those. :rolleyes: Music.. I can't stand that. Listening to something I like and then some dorky techno beat background music starts playing.. really loud! or if I am not listening to anything... and the room is silent because its 2am in the morning.. and I forgot to turn the speakers down.. ugh.. heart attack. And of course, anything that just looks pathetic. I don't like sites that look like it took 5 seconds to create.. and best, created by a child. Get some glasses.... yellow font *gag* times new roman font.. ack... I sometimes don't even like font over size 1 because it looks too large or something (and my monitor is set at 1152x864 so things are already small LOL) (verdana size 2 is ok.. all others, even arial annoys me unless they are size 1). Improperly created tables with bad borders (ever heard of colspan or rowspan?) tables that have color yet have no defining border.... I am very anal about anything I have to look at.. even if it isn't for long. :eek: Flash doesn't bother me at all.. it actually keeps me interested in the site if its done well. Something that moves but isn't moving too much. Sites that copy from other sites bother me, sites with incorrect information bother me.. sites that never get a make-over bother me.. sites with horrible navigation.. do I even have to say it? heh.. really, I could go on and on. It's amazing how I can stay infront of this computer for so long without going completely nuts! It's so sad, I even mail people and ask if they need any free help to improve their designs. :D klisis 07-08-2002, 09:25 AM Well, I personally really dislike music on websites as I generally listen to my own music. Since many flash sites use music / sound, I dislike flash. Popup is the seond most hated element, I think but it can be controlled by a 3rd party program. I also dislike websites with massive amount of ads - not popups but actual ads on a page. I dislike intro, especially when there is no SKIP link!!! Seeing as how Flash, bad colors / fonts, and BG music have already been listed, here are some others: - Sites that have HUGE pics with small size tags, so that you wonder why the page takes two minutes to load with only a few 150 x 150 pixel sized images. - Sites that link to a aledged secure buying page, but don't have the 's' after the http and, no little lock graphic on the bottom of the browser window. - Frames - Sites that lock the dotcom in the browser address bar so that you can't tell what page you are on.
