i've been looking into as much information about reselling as i can for the past few months in order to find the best options and have everything planned out before i step fully into this venture. every few days, my views change, i find better companies, and so on and so on. i was wondering if there was a couple of REALLY GOOD resellers, merchant providers, etc that would be the best starting out on with a budget of less than $500. detailed opinions/experiences with these companies are what i'm looking for as i don't want to end up losing too much money if everything falls apart. i'm looking the best reseller/merchant services/etc combination.

olm.com `s services are much praised here and they are really flexible. They also offer support all day long.
Personally I signed up with Liquidweb so that I could give my customers a good deal featurewise. But they haven`t got support at all times and it may be 12 hours waiting, but I do not regret.
Who is the best you`ve found this far? I remember when I was in your situation. I was sure to sign up with about 5 companies before I made my choice. Discovering this forum made the whole thing much easier.
There is not much money to loose being a reseller. 500$ should be enough for a good start.

i was thinking about using VenturesOnline for the reselling and Revecom for billing. if there's any other company that's better than VenturesOnline, and has CPanel 3+, let me know. or if there's something i'm leaving out entirely (the etc part), PLEASE let me know. i'm trying to cover all the basics before i commit myself to this. there's no defninitive guide for doing this (i think). is there a more favorable combination of companies/things/whatever that would better suit someone who's just starting? i don't need hosts with killer support; just one that can set things up without delay and don't have a multitude of server problems. i can do everything on my end short of configuring a server through a bash shell (didn't have enough time to learn). it's pretty difficult to choose between all these different hosts offering VERY similar packages. help me out.

You may want to talk with Carlos at wizardshosting.com about their Reseller Plan. It is affordable ...
We also use Revecom and are happy with them : )

maybe i'm totally blind, but i can't find any information on their page detailing any specifics of the reseller plan at wizardshosting.com. the only places on the page that i find any information pertaining to it is one mention of it in the FAQ and as an option on the order form. am i just not seeing it?

I have three resold accounts with Ventures Online (four accounts total) and honestly I am very, very happy. Their pricing is about the best I've seen and for once I am confident of the hardware and the support behind it. I've been with many hosts and many reseller plans and this one is the best I have found so far.
Paul or Daniel are usually online and if they're not, they'll get back to you asap in my experience. The server has been great and what I really like is how all reseller accounts get Web Hosting Manager which is a full-featured control panel for managing your resold accounts. I have dealt with companies where you had to e-mail the web host and tell them to activate/deactivate a resold account and it usually got screwed up in the process!!! This way you can do it yourself. :) Also you'll have instant activation for resold accounts as you're taking care of it right there on the spot...
Server has been very reliable and zippy. My customer (all one of them) (hey, gotta start somewhere! *giggle*) is very pleased with the performance of her site. We both like how she gets a web-based control panel even though she doesn't have a dedicated IP. (We put her on a small plan, it's not a site to burn up the pipes per se...) Also I had no trouble with FTPing into her site during upload, sometimes I do have a problem w/ Dreamweaver, there can be a problem with some aliasing systems... well VO's system is not one of them, it went very smoothly.
I find the support docs better than Ultraspeed. I was with AITcom for a while and their support docs are written like MUD. Ventures' support docs are to the point and complete. If you have further questions, Daniel and Paul are happy to answer them to the best of their ability.
Really in all my searching, VO has been the best deal for my needs. And the support is the icing on the cake. Those guys work hard and they do a great job. It's nice to get good service -- and fast. My hats off to them, they appear to have pulled it off. :D
Good luck in your search. You're smart to do the homework first and plan it out. I had reseller accounts for three years before I ever resold one!!! Can't imagine the money I would have saved with a little foresight. At least I learned a lot along the way and maybe I would not be in a decent position today were it not for the hard lessons learned back when... :)
Cheers,
