Needed a break from flying around the US too much. Did QA for about 3 1/2 years, and got let go because of a Microsoft Lawsuit that scared Compaq. All of that supporting OpenVMS, UNIX/Tru64/Linux/solaris, WindowsNT, and an ENTIRE telecommunications system. NOW, I have my own Hosting business, dialup access, and reseller business. THE FUN NEVER STOPS!!! Steve And yeah, OpenVMS still rules. Hands down the best OS I've seen. What I SHOULD be doing is running OpenVMS on my servers with Apache!!! Computers scared the crap outta me. You know, that cryptic stuff and wierd codes you type in them... lines of text... made no sense!!! Today at dinner I was secretly pleased to be drilled by this guy who had "no idea" I manage linux servers, and how did I get into that, and what was my training, etc. etc. It is funny how this little town of mine has no idea my "online life" or the things I've learned/done outside the village's boundaries. I've known this guy for two years now and he had no clue. 'Course I don't wear a "Got Root?" t-shirt or anything -- not that anybody here would get it anyway.... |
