As Registerfly fades into oblivion, ICANN has at last taken it upon itself to address many of the questions raised by the company's precipitous collapse. ICANN issued a statement (http://www.icann.org/announcements/announcement-21mar07.htm) on its website today detailing a variety of issues to be addressed at the upcoming ICANN conference in Lisbon.

ICANN's noble sentiments as expressed in this latest statement would have been more credible if they were to make a genuine attempt to help those domain name owners who have been affected by RF. Instead, in my limited exposure to ICANN, their posture has been to hide behind the shield of their charter / bylaws etc. and wash their hands off this entire sordid saga. A big thumbs-down from me.

Is there a need for a new entity to assist customers and intervene on behalf of their concerns?
