You have a version of PHP that is not compiled for the libraries you have. Please understand -- the Raq3 OS is ancient, and is unlikely to run much modern software version unless they are recompiled, and even then there will be challenges.

Your choices are: 1) download an ancient or semi-ancient version of PHP for your Raq3 OS (people on this board can suggest where to do this; or 2) get a newer OS (different people here can suggest that); or 3) get a version of the PHP source and compile for the libs that you have (only suggested if you're a bit of a Linux guru).

Thank you for the help, New OS sounds fun.

The two leading candidates are StrongBolt and RackStar (google for them). There is a thread on this board comparing them. StrongBolt is built on CentOS 4 with BlueQuartz, and I've come to the conclusion that its main advantage is that "yum update" works, and you can more easily keep your software up-to-date. RackStar, on the other hand, has a legitimate claim to being more compatible with the Raq 550 OS, and they have a compelling-sounding new release about to come out (see their website). The StrongBolt system has an installer that works more-or-less like the RaQ OSRCD, and can install over a LAN connection, while the RackStar version needs you to pull the hard drive and burn it in a PC, but the RackStar version is free, and the StrongBolt version costs for the distro disk/installer.

Both feature a modern Linux kernel and more recent PHP, MySQL, Apache, and do on, unlike to semi-updated Raq4 OS you will see from some sources. I have run StrongBolt in a production environment now for some time, and found it to be super-stable. I've installed and run RackStar, but haven't stress-tested it.

As to all of the above, YMMV (your mileage may vary)!

Well i had these kinds of problems too until i gave up and called a friend. Poor him, he had to stand my crises... Anyways he finally helped me by installing me another version.

If you have a RaQ3 you should install the FREE RaQ4 os and the FREE updates. You will end up with php 4. php 5 and mysql 5 are also avaiable.

Please note that I have to tell people over and over that the RaQ4 Kernel is just fine and still supported and it won't slow down your box or leave you with a gui system that can crash and cause total data loss.

leave you with a gui system that can crash and cause total data loss.Whatever else may be said, there is no way a GUI crash (which only Zeffie has apparently seen in the wild) can cause total data loss. You can always get your vsite data off the disk ... You are best advised to confront scare mongering with scepticism.

From the bluequartz list

The big changes of 5200R are
- use passwd, shadow instead of pwdb
That's because this little database has all your users passwords and if you break it.. you crash the whole system... I have had one of the best 550 techs work an entire day rebuilding it from a corrupted copy. (This service is no longer available) and other support companys only say... Restore form your backup. (I guess I say that alot now too!)

On top of that the 550 uses an older version of the xfs filesystem which as you run one someday you might find out how unforgiving it is... I have seen multiple people loose the entire /home directory and sometimes over and over due to poor error handling. oh and it causes the unit to reboot every time it can't read a file!

I have seen entire drives disappear! (google no superblock found) and no the xfs_repair utility only works sometimes.

You are best advised to confront scare mongering with scepticism.

So true.. and if you look and the Strongbolt Scare Campagne your dead on... In my opinion that person has been running a plain and simple false advertising Scare Campagne about how our version of linux is so outdated and just bad with nobody that counts backing him up. The 2.2 kernel is still supported by kernel.org and Strongbolt is just out to make a dollar.

Perhaps you should have some more champagne with your campaign. :-)

not that I'm aware of. but if you want to do that you might look at the Qube3 software...
