Thanks for the compliment, though you should be able to get much better speeds -- were you downloading this from a home cable modem or DSL?

Just for the record, I'm getting between 3 and 6 megabytes per second downloading it from a server at NAC.net (wget hostit365.com/speedtest/uumap.tar.Z). Results from pinging webhostingtalk.com:

--- webhostingtalk.com ping statistics ---
19 packets transmitted, 19 packets received, 0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/mdev = 5.587/5.963/7.381/0.408 ms

I only got speeds of 36kb/sec ... highest was 48kb/sec. I'm downloading from Canada. I've got a 1.5mbps cable modem connection btw... I normally get downloads of 200kb to 300kb per sec from www.download.com. I've gotten speeds up to 1.3mb/sec before though with other sizes (like microsoft and zone.com)

Adam, all I can say is that we do have extremely good connectivity on a solid network here, but unfortunately once it gets out on the Internet we don't have control over it. So while some people may get several megabytes per second, it might be hitting a bad node somewhere on the way to Canada which is slowing it down for you at the moment.

This is why many companies, I know Apple does this and I assume Microsoft as well, place data as close to the customer as possible by partnering with companies like Akamai. You can get more info on that at www.akamai.com
