View Full Version : Leaving FDC, where to go?
.::DefCon::. 07-06-2002, 07:13 PM Guys,
Due to the problems with FDC, that in fact started since the first day I got my server up, I'm leaving them, and need a new dedicated host as soon as possible.
My budget is 200$/mth MAX, with at least 400GB bandwidth and a 40GB hard disk, minimum 512MB ram, and CPanel (if the server has no control panel, maximum monthly fee must not go over 155$).
The most attractive offer is eServers.biz, but they've currently ran out of servers 'till Friday next week. Although it is possible for me to wait, the sooner I get out of FDC's DC, the better.
Any tips are welcome!
SoftWareRevue 07-06-2002, 07:21 PM Why not Nocster (http://www.nocster.net) then?
I've had great service and support from them.
k6cheung 07-06-2002, 07:26 PM fastservers.net 's toll free phone number list is pretty impressive.
That probably means they're there for real.
I personally have no experience with them and would like to find out more about them
Tazzman 07-06-2002, 07:38 PM eservers.biz once they get some new servers in. Talked to their people for a bit over email and their response times are out of this world (I got replies after about 2 minutes at various times of day).
TimPD 07-06-2002, 08:54 PM fastservers.net - is in HE.net. I do know that.
BurtonHost 07-06-2002, 08:58 PM Have you tried http://www.smartwebservice.net
If you email them, they'll probably have you a server setup in about < 48 hours depending on spec. Other than that, I would recommend waiting for eServers. Both companies attractive pricing and support. Point to note: SWS offer managed servers at probably the same price as eservers offer unmanaged, so your choice on that one. Who to choose, who to choose :stickout

I read that from other thread as well, but does that mean good ? or bad ?
ToastyX 07-06-2002, 09:36 PM Haven't you been using RackShack? Why not go with one of their Celeron boxes?
Fair Dinkum 07-06-2002, 10:57 PM I will throw a name out there too: www.versehost.com David got me a heck of a deal on a dedicated machine, and it has been working well.

Techark 07-06-2002, 11:19 PM If you can wait go with eservers.biz or tranxactglobal the service is great the techs are top notch. It is well worth the wait time and you will be able sleep nights.
I can't recomend them highly enough.

smartwebservice.net offer similar pricing to eservers?
PIII 866 GHZ
512 ram
30 GIG hd
unlimited IP's (according to ARIN's rules)
WebMin
400 gigs of transfer
$499 per month with a $400 setup fee
That looks a heck of a lot more expensive than eservers..... Did I miss something :D
BurtonHost 07-07-2002, 09:34 AM They haven't updated their website.. email them and they have some amazing deals for the new Tampa datacenter. Also check the specials forum and you will see some of what they are offering very cheap (with cPanel / WHM)

That deal really caught my eye last week...
No setup, good system specs, 600gigs ... with a well respected host... might be worth looking into. Seems to have what you're looking for at less than what you wanted to spend.
Good luck.
BurtonHost 07-07-2002, 09:41 AM Check this link out: the special they were doing (if you ring up Knox or email he will honor you with the same deal I've heard still
