here is a good one for ya. i have been designing website for some time now and i have found that you always want a page to be length editable very easily incase you have something more to add on that page that will make it longer. i have also realized that creating webpages in fireworks and such gives you images that are not really size editable. so my question is this. many people have theses amazing photoshop sites. and photoshop is an image/web development program. how do you get websites like this http://www.imageworksstudio.com/

notice how the graphics stay with the tables al the way down the page. is he just using the table images making sure the text fits and putting it there or is there a way to insert text with the image automatically resizing itself.

im sorry if im confusing anyone. its confusing me lol.

can anyone help. i would really love to be able to do this.

thanks

The answer has nothing to do with whether you use Fireworks or Photoshop. It has to do with whether you use the slicing tools within either program (bad idea) or whether you strategically crop, export and properly code objects to give a site proper expandability (good idea). Photoshop will give you the same, unusable results if you rely on its tools.

I'm looking at the page source, and I'm not seeing any tables (which is correct on his part). Where are you seeing tables?

I'd disagree slightly with this. It's ok to use the slicing tools, just don't use the export to tables functions. There isn't anything wrong with the slicing tools, just the code it produces to reassemble the result.

Yes, you're correct in that regard. It's worth mentioning though that you still want to look at ways to strategically export your images. Slicing up a layout into pieces may not net you the best results, especially when you taking repeating background elements into account.

Background images. Just add a background image to your table and it will automatically repeat to fill the height of the table. Your background image only needs to have a height of 1pixel (it can be more if needed).
