We are planning to deploy an email solution for a medium size business. The email solution should support around 3500 users. We've been thinking in using smartermail enterprise edition solution, installed on a primary server and the spamassasin installed on another linux server.

1) First, do you think smartermail will be reliable?
2) What hardware specification should be able to handle the 3500 usres?
3) We also thought of Microsoft exchange server but the solution is not in our budged range. Can Smartermail E.E v4 be compared to MS exchange server in terms of stability?
