Wonder if I should try it? I think I just found away to raise cash, my wife is due any day now. Anyone want to start the bidding before I put it on Ebay?:D

How about that? That would be cruel. Quite frankly, you are right. People just seem to have money to burn.

Creative, but I'll never let a stranger name my kids ;) But this sure beats that "we're having a child and we're both not ready - bid for our baby now"! There were tons of those before eBay slammed down on them

At one point there was actually a couple, I believe in Florida, that was trying to get Frito Lay (makers of snack food) and/or Pepsi to endorse their unborn child's name. They wanted to name the kid Pepsi for the right price. I don't think it ever happened because any company that actually would pay a price to have someone named after them is sick. I just hope the parents were locked up somewhere.

I think the auction is only for first name. :D

Yeah but can believe the number of bids and the amount of money:confused:

Very strange people out there. Maybe we could start an auction to name our next server;)

Sorry, I could never do that, I mean, if I had the money, bid, and won, I could name their child, "asdfjadshfsdfwer" if I wanted to, since it isn't against their restrictions.

I think he/she means it's just hard to believe... sorry, but it took me 9 months (okay, 7, since I didn't know I was pregnant until I was 2 months) to decide on a name for my son, and we were actually coming up with a middle name on the way to the hospital to have him! That is how picky I was, no way could I let someone else name my kid.

They're probably gonna have to spend all the money they make on therapy for the kid when his name ends up being Craphead Jones or something...

Well it can't be that, if you read the description it says nothing offensive, but it is still crazy :)

Exactly. What if they name him/her something horrible. Who would have that type of insane mind?

That's awful... What kind of parents would do this? I'm hoping that it is infact a joke.

What'll happen when the kid grows up and asks how she or he was named?

I'd think that any parent or couple would put their heart into naming their child, and not regard it as an opprotunity to make a profit of some sort.

I witnessed an auction for an X box.
- Not the product, just the box the product comes in.
I swear the description even said it was just the cardboard box and the bidding ended at about $300!

I don't know if I would let stargers bid on naming my baby though.

That is scary.

Who in their right mind would pay $5,567.00 to name someone elses baby.

Geez...

I've seen similar things happen. Like people bidding $400 for a LINK to a site where they could buy a Nvidia Geforce3 (when it first came out) for $350. Insanity!

Long terminvestment but good advertising  :D

Looks like ebay pulled the plug on it.

I noticed it made the news here in St. Louis a few days ago. I know ebay doesn't like auctions that get that type of attention.

Well, with the plug on the auction pulled by eBay, I guess they took it as seriously as they took those "buy our unborn baby" auctions... ;)
