anyone know how to install software on a raq4 that does not have a '.pkg' extension on it? the server admin for my raq4 doesn't let me install any software that does not end in '.pkg' please include as many details as you can since i am a newbie to Linux and telnet.

you'd need to telnet into your server and compile/install it yourself. You can search through this forums, there are many threads about installing mysql/php that are a good example on how to install software.

Find specific instructions for the program you are trying to install. Remember, the Cobalt is basically a Linux-based server, so instructions for installing on a Linux system *should* work on the Cobalt.
