View Full Version : I need experience/opinions on FrontDrive
gadgetgrl 07-04-2002, 05:14 AM I've narrowed it down to FrontDrive (and Webmasters).
Could anyone share their experiences or opinions? Any but not just limited to:
Customer Service
Tech Support
Uptime
Any Billing problems
thanks
Servstra-Sales 07-04-2002, 06:47 AM Try doing a search of WHT and see if there are any comments previously posted about them on these forums.
Good luck.
Jacksdad 07-20-2002, 04:22 PM I will have to ask the same question as gadgetgrl, any one besides frontdrive, have real comments on frontdrive.com.
I did a search and nothing real turned up.
Thanks
Acroplex 07-20-2002, 06:35 PM Hmmm.
I have photographic memory, and I SWEAR that's the same graphics, template etc that were used in availhosting.com - before it went out of business!
mindboggle 07-20-2002, 06:39 PM Just to let you know, they post here quite frequently under the username FDrive.
Acroplex 07-20-2002, 06:40 PM Hmm explain this:

mindboggle 07-20-2002, 06:42 PM Heh, funny, I guess they changed their name?
Acroplex 07-20-2002, 06:44 PM I don't know, the mind boggles :D:D:D
mindboggle 07-20-2002, 06:45 PM It certainly does :D
This explains the web page:
http://webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=446436#post446436
However, it doesn't explain the WHOIS information.
Acroplex 07-20-2002, 06:53 PM Hmmm thanks for the pointer. Indeed, the WHOIS info is confusingly similar.
FDrive 07-20-2002, 07:02 PM Jeremy, the guy who ran availhosting.com, is my roommate. He was 17 at the time, so he couldn't get his own PO Box, etc. I did most of the front-end stuff for him, designed his webpage, etc. I've always been the designer, he's always been the computer science geek ;)
When he went under with Avail, I decided to rework some of the things that we had worked on together and do it myself this this time. And more importantly, do it right this time.
Heh, nice detective work, though.. he's gunna get a kick out of this ;)
Acroplex 07-20-2002, 07:04 PM Hehe, I'll be damned :D
Nice work, BTW. That's why I remember the look of it :D

Thanks :)
Small world, eh? :D
Acroplex 07-20-2002, 07:06 PM I had some great ping times with Availhosting, although Jeremy's army of Indian engineers :D were a bit slow resolving the few setup issues that I had.
Tell Jeremy hello :D

LOL... I guess he used Bobcares? I know they're a timesaver and all... but I wouldn't touch outsourced tech support with a 10 foot pole :D.. just too impersonal.
I know his server was with DV2, so if you're near Atlanta that's probably why you got good ping times?
I'll tell him Hi from TC when he gets in :)
Acroplex 07-20-2002, 07:10 PM Yeah, I'm in Orlando and I do prefer East Coast based servers. Not sure who he used for support.
Didn't you use to have an info page about the Front Drive group? :D

Huh?
FDrive 07-20-2002, 07:15 PM oh, LOL. Jeremy just got in, you're talking about "Christy Front Drive" -- some obscure band that he's in to. He was the one who came up with "Front Drive", I had no idea it was a reference to some indie band. I feel so unprofessional now :stickout
Acroplex 07-20-2002, 07:16 PM Ok, now we have the whole story ROFL :D
At least he's not into Paulina Rubio LOLOL
:D
FDrive 07-20-2002, 07:21 PM The whole story? Not even close! Inside Edition has the dirt on Front Drive... starring Jay M. and Jeremy T.... directed by timechange. Coming to NBC this fall.
Paulina who? :stickout
By the way -- I told him Hi for you and he says "kiss my US" while laughing? Whatever that means?
Acroplex 07-20-2002, 07:23 PM HAHAHAHAHAHHA
Oh man
I have to enable the DNS on that.
I registered KissMy.US a while back :D
Hehe. I am still laughing now!
edude 07-20-2002, 07:56 PM
stashia 07-20-2002, 10:28 PM are there any comments on frontdrive.com's services? i am interested to know about them, and how good their services are.
April 07-21-2002, 09:13 PM i too would really appreciate some comments on frontdrive... i've been going towards this company for awhile but haven't seen any comments on here... i guess no comments are better than bad. Is this company any good has anyone had any experience with them?
Arsenal 07-22-2002, 12:45 PM how many sites per server? What is normal server load? etc. thanks
Symbolik9 07-23-2002, 06:29 PM I just bought an account with them, my domain is VayaTech.com . In response to Arsenal's question, Jay told me that they never put more than 200 accounts on a server. As for server loads, the highest I've gotten was about 1.63, but they were fixing a problem with Apache, so that was to be expecting. Normal average server loads haven't exceeded 0.63. So far I'm happy with the tech support, with my ticket being answered within 20 minutes. I'll let you know how they work out in the long run :)
deathlord 07-23-2002, 08:16 PM Sounds good. I just grabbed an account with em. Ill keep you guys updated with it.
