What about support? ie: are the servers semi managed, or completely unmanaged?

However we try to support all problems not supported by RackShack directly. Most of the problems we deal with (90% or so) are caused by wrong software configuration and never escalated to RackShack. The following problems are escalated: network issues, cold reboot requests, requests for additional IP addresses etc., i.e. those issues we can't deal with without RackShack's participation. There are 3 people in 3 different timezones who monitor support@saburovo.com e-mail.

For additional fee of $25/mo. we perform regular updates of Red Hat Linux packages via Red Hat Network, including kernel upgrades; Plesk or Ensim patches, etc. Please see saburovo.com/upgrade

I noticed on your signup page how you only accept Paypal. I would strongly recommend expanding that list with something like 2checkout or revcon. I know a lot of people who won't conduct buisness using paypal, myself included. Just a suggestion.

Yes, PayPal has some very bad sides to it, especially if you sell a lot. :) I prefer companies with their own merchant accounts. If they dont have that, 2CO is ok.

quite true. I know of at least one reputable web hosting company that used Paypal (in conjunction with other methods), and suddenly had its account frozen by PalPay. Paylpay cited irregular activity, and wouldn't release the funds. It finally got resolved, but the hosting company stopped accepting paypal payment since due to the lesson.

Yes, thats why I suggest a merchant account or 2CO and maybe accept paypal on the side, if they don't have a cc, but like for every 100 sales you get, 90-95 should be normal, the rest paypal. All paypal is scary. lol

I looked at different merchant options since October 2001 and I could not find anyone better than PayPal in terms of rates and security. At the moment PayPal's rates are very competitive -- 2.2%, and I already went through the cycle of freezing/unfreezing the account (should happen to anyone at least once to make PayPal happy ;) ), I found they are willing to solve the issues pretty quickly.

Anyway, I will continue to look for alternative payment solutions.

Couldn't sign up as well - paypal is not well known outside of the US/Canada.

I believe it's all of RS's network providers. See his 2nd or 3rd post above.
