We use Cobalt RaQs and place our resellers on servers we build ourselves.

My point is, RaQs can be cheap and tough but they aren't as flexible.

Compaq DL320's and a few other compaq models for other jobs/tasks dealing with our business.

1U rackmountable, fast and very reliable.

Build your own, and colocate it with a reliable company. Purchasing prebuilt servers is all fine and dandy, but if something breaks, you need to know how to fix it. Upgrading software can also be a challenge if you're not intimately familiar with your server. With some research, you can put together your own server without spending too much money. We run Apache on FreeBSD, both reliable and excellent products, and both completely free. This means more money for decent hardware, which is a must. Building your own server certainly has quite a few advantages.

Hey, railslug, another Vancouverite! And a CSS and FreeBSD fan no less. Excellent!

I'm in Vancouver as well - who knew there'd be so many of us?

Adam - looks like we are neighbors at peer1.
