I found below site yesterday, stating com/net/org for $6.39. Has anyone of you heard of it?

http://partners.gdtechindia.com/reseller.php?action=pricing

How is it possible? as it's price is lower than directi's Slab 5.

Thanks

.com domain price is only $6 to the registrar.

$6.39 is very doable. ( bet they don't stay that price or are high on the addons)

all depends how greedy the registrar wants to be, the amount of features they offer with the domain vs charge for extras, etc...

$8ish is a FAIR price if it includes self service features like forwarding.
(uses some their pc resources)

sometimes they will "sale" lower than cost, and hope to make it up on other services they sale.

I generally pay $7
although I can get a CONSTANT $6.49 on a reseller account, which is less pretty and more manual.

.com price for the registrar is 6.25$

6$ paid to the registry, and 0.25$ to ICANN

that gives only 0.14$ for customer support, servers, etc...

hmmm I am going to try them out.. the only thing that I don't like so far, is the ping time. I assume their website is hosted on a server in asia, so when loading their site it loads slower. I'll try 1 domain out and see how they are.

You must remember that the Paypal/Creditcard fees are most probably on top of that.

My personal advise would be to go with the established registrar, not some not-so-known Asian company (or one man show).

Good luck, anyway.

Well I'll try them out and see how it goes. I get a free domain from them anyways. So I'll let ya know how it goes. Although at the moment their domains page won't load....

well I've been waiting about 12 hrs.. and my domain isn't register. I sent them a PM, so mabye they will get back to me.

The interface seem's less user friendly, I still cannot find the options to edit my DNS or other functions.. I will post more later once they register the domain for me.

Well FreshFroot. That's the kind of service you can expect for such a low price.

I agree... at 1st they had good support, but latly I haven't been able to contact them. I will still try them out, with a domain I don't have much use for and check it out further.

I couldn't said it any better..
You get what You pay for.

If You don't value Your domains more than this, than I guess it's okey.
And we all know that if the annual price is low, they will try to get their money somewhere else on other fees.
Or even selling Your domain on an auction the Godaddy (http://tinyurl.com/22srdx) way. ;)

gdtechindia.com (http://gdtechindia.com) is a strange company, I dont understand them. I opened up a sub-reseller through them and was going to transfer my domains over. But when I was ready to move the domains in, they closed my account.

I emailed their support and sales department asking them to open my sub-reseller back up. 3 weeks later I'm yet to hear anything from them.

I was not wronged, or did not miss out, I just don't think they give much support or take their business seriously.

I agree... their service sucks. I have been waiting for a reply for over a week now. The owner comes by and views my PM's and then doesn't bother to reply. They already took my money too!

Since early Feb I've regged 272 .com, .mobi, .info, .net and have not had any problems. The interface is extremely slow sometimes though. Any emails I sent were answered in a timely fashion.

Sure, do want to buy some or what?

no just to confirm that you are a customer of them as per WHT rules so it doesn't get considered as self promotion and posts gets deleted for false info :)

HighEnergy

I don't think it's any one's business. 1/3 of them have already been sold and pushed. I tried to PM you a few examples but it seems I'm not permitted a PM.

I don't want the risk of a future buyer to find his new domain in a hosting forum 6 months down the road. As quickly as SE's grab and cache forum threads that can happen.

Delete the post.

All I can say is there support is slow. #1 they are in india, so it's night when it's day here. Therefore, they take more than 12 hrs to reply to a ticket. Your website could be down for 12 hrs or more, before a tech can look at your ticket.

On mines, which I sent last night. I've gotten no reply yet.

That's true FreshFroot and that would tick me off. You must be hosting there?

Ipower is great for Domains AND support !

http://www.ipower.com

Mmmm...If you're on a tight budget then they are probably worth it, but their support operators seem to be there to tell you whatever you want to hear and their domains take a few hours for manual activation.

Plus....I think they make a loss on each domain - approximately $4 as they are resellers for Tucows.

Alright I got a reply back from them and they registered the domain it appears. The staff was somewhat rude in the reply.

Also just as a notice, features such as creating your OWN DNS cost you $0.25.

Just an update, GDTechIndia replied to my trouble ticked yesterday and fixed my reseller.

I think this thread did some good :)

I found this thread today and i work for GDTECHINDIA. I would like to give some clarification for the concerns raised in this thread.

1. The cost is low as we are selling domains at no profit basis in the moment. Our plans are to get ICANN approval for which we will need atleast 8000 domains.

2. If the payment is made via paypal, the order is executed in real time without any delays.

3. 12 hours to reply to support ticket is not much. If you take a look at most companies offering support, the tickets are usually answered within 24 hours.

4. The domain prices are the lowest among resellerclub based companies selling domains. There are some others offering lower prices, but i guess they have many problems (registerfly and ipower to name a couple).

5. Someone said, one man show, which isn't a story with this company. There is a staff of 63 as of today.

So you are a ResellerClub reseller? Can you do a free push to an Answerable (Directi Retail) account?

I have to say so far their company has been great. I only had a issue once, where their site loaded slow, other than that they seem pretty good.

Yes, the domains can be pushed to and from any other Directi Reseller without any extra costs.

Thanks for your comments. The website was slow due to some backend issues of ResellerClub. They are planning to start many new extensions and this may cause some performance issues at times.

The prices have been updated and also, we are offering many new extensions, .co.uk and some others at a very competitive prices.
