View Full Version : Automated Billing solutions (is that the name?)
jplascencia 02-26-2007, 01:26 AM I have a reseller package with HostGator and it includes WHM AutoPilot (personally, I don't like it, even if it's included).
Then I found WHMCompleteSolution and I like it, specially because their support system (in the package, not in their site).
I've read here about clientexec and modernbill.
Which one do you use? and why?
What I'm looking for (mainly, not the only) are 2 things:
- Automated account creation
- Support (to my customers). Not only the ticket system, a knowledge base, things like that.
Oh, sorry, I was about to forget: if that tool can be customized (spanish language available, or at least, fully customizable) is a must.
Suggestions? Opinions?
Thanks.
XeHSean 02-26-2007, 07:55 AM We use modernbill, but I think that both whmcs and whmap are also very nice.
Cirtex 02-26-2007, 09:31 AM WHMCompleteSolution is probably your best bet, though modernbill + kayako combined would probably be a better solution in the long wrong.
good luck
Dan-Iron 02-26-2007, 10:02 AM MB is what we use but if I had to select one, I'd go with WHMCompleteSolution ! ;)
Instance 02-26-2007, 10:11 AM Hello, jplascencia,
Take a look at this thread (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=546167). There you can find a very neat and specific comparison among WHMCompleteSolution, Clientexec and Modernbill.
I hope you would find it helpful.:agree:
jplascencia 02-26-2007, 12:09 PM It seems than everybody who uses any both (Modern or Client) vote for the one they use or awaits for new version/promises. And I'm afraid that both of them has not, directly, many options to support people.
Like someone told me before, a Kayako mix would be the best. Well, to be honest, I prefeer the Knowledege base that you can buy form ActiveCampaign (not very cheap but very good, I like it).
After I bought it I found WHMCS and, his KB is not as good but... it's integrated and 'almost' fully customizable then I decided not to use the Active's KB.
Thanks for your suggestions.
Any other comment?
Every word is really appreciated.
Thanks.
For a standalone billing/support center, my vote would go to Ubersmith: www.ubersmith.com

rllunzmann 02-26-2007, 02:18 PM have you tried or looked into PHPcoin? It actually works quite well and is a slim install. Most hosts who offer Fantastico should have this included and perhaps others.
XeHSean 02-26-2007, 03:14 PM WHMCompleteSolution is probably your best bet, though modernbill + kayako combined would probably be a better solution in the long wrong.
good luck
Agreed completely! If you don't mind getting kayako support suite (or esupport) as well as maybe idevaffiliate, then modernbill is probably your best bet. If not, the all-inclusive whmcs may be a better option :D
dhcart 02-26-2007, 04:13 PM Did you try AWBS? It supports a lot of features. But the customization of it is very hard for me. If you buy it when you'll need many times to modify it's design and add a language :)
SwiftModders 02-26-2007, 04:38 PM We use WHMCS and Kayako, we did not like the WHMCS support options, but it is still a GREAT billing system. We left Modernbill for it and have never looked back. We also created a loginshare for Kayako with WHMCS on the WHMCS forums, so check that out.
Very customizable, awesome functions, nice backend style, and easy for clients to navigate (very positive reaction from my clients). What more can I say, check them out!
atechstl 02-26-2007, 09:38 PM I love AWBS. It is a complete website package though. It can be customized. Once up and running the system works great. My clients tell me how professional my website is and they love the setup with the invoicing. You see Modern Bill with Hostgator. It is like leaving their website just to do view your invoices. AWBS lets your customer seem like he or she is right at home in one place.
I would look into it if I were you. It is probably your most affordable solution since you can lease a license for as little as $17.95/mo.
aspis 02-26-2007, 10:02 PM I love WHMCS, it is very customizable and powerful, and the account creation is completely automated (or not, depening on your settings)
BluewaveHosted 02-27-2007, 03:13 AM another tools is www.lpanel.net
cartika-andrew 02-27-2007, 02:04 PM sigh,
stick with cpanel and you have all of the same options - clientexec, modernbill, whm, etc - which are all plugins and require manual intervention to accomplish pretty much anything.
If you really want integration and automation, look at hsphere, plesk or helm reseller solutions (hsphere being the most advanced as far as automation goes)
2Macs Jim 02-27-2007, 02:33 PM H-Sphere is the most advanced. Everythings built right in.
TravisST 02-27-2007, 04:02 PM I have been playing with WHMautopilot and have to say that I am very impressed. The software was easy to integrate into my website to make it look custom, and provided a great and informative admin panel. They also support multiple merchant account systems, I thought that was very nice.
I do not believe that the support system it comes with features a knowledgebase. Overall though, I'd certainly recommend it. :)
cbn-dmhannah 03-03-2007, 08:25 PM I like ModernBill w/ Kayako, works well, did take time to get it to look right and is a bit long winded to setup, but once working its fine. You then get the ability to use more then one gateway, registrar and control panel if needed. Dare I say that the 'new' MB is not very user friendly, but I will not go in to that hear ;o)
