The Prohacker 02-25-2007, 02:34 PM We are currently under a DDoS, I'm working with RackSpace on mitigating the attack at the moment.
Navid1 02-25-2007, 02:35 PM Oh ok , Good luck The Prohacker (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/member.php?u=3051) ,
Let us know how it goes!
IRCCo Jeff 02-25-2007, 02:40 PM It was quite a bit more than four minutes for me, via Comcast in GA.
Navid1 02-25-2007, 02:41 PM 4Mins was the first one it was ok for quit a bit and again it went down ...

justwandr 02-25-2007, 03:01 PM I can't believe how stupid people can get. He actually ddos'ed wht just to show he could do it.
I do have question. I do know inet has pretty large setup within rackspace and it seems WHT gets ddos every now and than too. There are 2 providers well very well known to provide ddos protection which really works going by the reviews. Why doesn't inet consider getting servers with them?
Rackspace might have a very reliable network however the amount of downtime due to ddos attacks and the work involved is a lot too...I do feel inet should consider one of those two providers.
I doubt those two providers could provide anything close to the cluster WHT has now. Rackspace does a fair bit more than we all think they do, and although WHT does go down a few more times than I'm sure anybody would like, look at its uptime. This is a huge forum, and so far Rackspace has been doing pretty well.

justwandr 02-25-2007, 03:27 PM There are plenty of big providers out there and I am prety sure many providers will be able to provide the setup inet has definitely the two providers I was hinting toward.
anyway it was just a question/suggestion mix after all downtime does cost money.

But will they be able to provide the SLA, or the remote hands (I'm sure ProSlacka can call Rackspace in a second and have them do whatever he wants/needs)? My point is, there are many other things you have to consider besides the obvious. I'm not saying Rackspace is the perfect WHT host, in fact I have my own ideas of where I would host WHT, but I think that for now, Rackspace is doing fine.

sgarbus 02-25-2007, 04:19 PM Gigenet's ProxyShield may be a good investment, as it wouldn't involve moving any hardware, etc.
The Dude 02-26-2007, 12:18 AM Why do so many people attack this server??
WHT and INET have done NOTHING to anyone!!!! -- Why the continuous attacks??

Why go out and have fun when you can sit home DDoSing random servers? It doesn't even compare! :agree:
valentin_nils 02-26-2007, 02:10 AM When it first started I was thinking my service provider is having problems again ;-)
Didnt take to long to find out its something else. I wish Inet interactive good luck in their fight against those DDOS attacks. THose can be quite annoying.

Why spend time trying to stop a site from loading??? It makes no sense!!
Dont these isiots have anything better to do??
DSD-Dan 02-26-2007, 06:41 AM Clearly not! I gave up trying to post yesterday in the end. They really do need to get a life don't they?

Because it's the way some people have fun.
For instance, I like to ride ATVs. This person prefers to stop a site and watch hundreds get angry.
Navid1 03-01-2007, 03:07 PM Let them have their fun we still have The Prohacker (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/member.php?u=3051) :P
BillyT 03-03-2007, 06:21 AM It is likely because WHT host with rackspace. There are a few members here who have dedicated their lives to bashing rackspace in these forums. If you are looking to investigate, I'd start with those clowns..
Navid1 03-03-2007, 09:20 AM Hello,

-NavidJust curious... is there really a need to make a post/thread every time WHT goes down? If it's down, they're working on it.
Navid1 03-03-2007, 11:01 AM No i was just wondering .. sorry ,
