Hi guys, care to share which is the cheapest domain registrar that you've ever encountered for a .com/net/org domain name and what kind of control panel they are using?

I know of ******.com which have USD 4.99 domain names. They are under Tucows but they don't use OpenSRS control panel as they have their own. Not sure if it's possible to transfer out domain names from them as inside Tucows OpenSRS control panel they've the Authentication Code while in ******'s own domain control panel it isn't displayed in there. If anyone has tranferred a domain name from ****** to another registrar do let me know about it and how's the procedure. Thank you. :)

www.uk2.net (http://www.uk2.net) seem a pretty good choice. 1 & 1 have an offer for free domains as well, but must purchase their hosting.

Take care of UK2.net cause when you want to move to another registrar later, they will ask you to pay about $30 !!

****** will let you transfer out later but you have to request the code from them but watch out for them as they will deduct money from your cc. they will send you an email to warm you but I have got them on the same day as they were to deduct the fees they were going to charge me for hosting. I was lucky I checked my email that day.

Netfirms let you get up to 5 domains at $4.95 each but after that they charge $9.95 as I found out (they also don't warn you about these extra charges so watch out for this scam)

I would suggest using Godaddy, Stargate or one of the reliable domain services. Godaddy have some downsides like not been able to transfer a name if you have pushed it or made any changes to it for 60 days.

For a single domain, for new customers only... yahoo small biz is probably the cheapest. Ipower is an absolute nightmare, but they do have halfway decent pricing and their interface has gotten better (allows you to lock/unlock from opensrs now). I bought a domain off ebay that was registered with ****** and was never able to get into the account from the get go (even though ****** acknowledged that I was the owner and manually updated my information from their side), then it expired before I was ever able to get into it... it was auctioned off to someone else and I lost the 1300.00 I paid for originally on ebay, a couple of hundred bucks for graphics that I had made and a huge hassle and quite a bit of time... anyway, I wouldn't use them again.

I'm a fan of directi myself. Yeah, it isn't quite as cheap... but you have full control and it isn't priced badly. They have the prices for resellers listed on the website at 8.99 I think for the first slab price, but if you want I can create you a reseller account at a lower price, just message me.

Basically, the lower the price you get your registrations, the more trouble you are likely to have. I hate to admit it... heck, I've argued for going with the cheap for so long... but it can seriously cost you in the long run.
