Just watching an interview with someone in charge of the Steve Fossett balloon trip around the world. The chap has said "the Bud Light Spirit of freedom balloon" about 10 times in the first few minutes of the interview. Talk about paying the bills!! :D

Seriously, I can't see why this is big news. So some guy flew around the world in a balloon, and so it hasn't been before. Who cares? Of what practical purpose is it? Lots of things haven't been done before, and they aren't being done because they are not worth doing. Flying around the world in a balloon should have been one of them.

If it had been done around the turn of the century? That would have been big! That would have been progress!

I mean it's nothing like the famous flights of Charles Lindbergh, which pushed the capabilities of flight at the time, or the acheivements of, say, Lewis and Clark or Henry Hudson who were exploring unknown territory. Here's what this guy did: put a lot of money into making a very impractical and outmoded method of transportation barely possible... it's not something anyone has any reason to do, it's not bringing the world of transportation forward a step, it's really a waste of time and resources. What he should be doing is going to Mars or something. Then I'd be impressed.

OOOH... next time A GLIDER! Wow, I see the future! Some day we'll all be travelling the world in gliders!

Yeah, and don't even get me started on Lindbergh's grandson. Sheesh, I've flown across the ocean on more perilous journeys than his was.

Actually, he should stop boosting his already enormous EGO, and donate to a charity.

There is something wrong with achieving something nobody else has done before? Something wrong with trying to do something just to see if you can do it?

And why is it that every time someone spends their own hard earned money on something they just personally want or want to do, there is always someone who starts in about how they should have given their money away to charity instead? Happens every time there is an elaborate wedding, big mansion built etc etc etc. It gets annoying.

I think its funny how this rich dildo spends all this money to accomplish what... to fly arround the world in a ballon! Big freaking deal... for the money he spent he could have had a super wonder woman jet built and completed the task 7 or 8 times allready with the time it took this jerkoff to float arround the world. Lame rich people.
