View Full Version : complaint
rsbug 07-03-2002, 10:07 AM This guy does Not honor his 90 guarantee for refunds. Nor does he respond to e-mail or phone calls. Had to file a complaint with the Houston BBB.
Also does business as FIDPAC, Supernu webhosting, best-host.net just to name a few.

Sadly enough there are alot of these. Do some lookingup on his domains and all try and find his real number and bug the crap otu of him and do the BBB thing. The BBB though wont get him in trouble they will just try to resolve the conflict and if hes a false company he wont really care about the BBB. I know what its like im waiting on over 125 dollars in refunds currently due to these money back quarenties at all kinds of places (not jsut hosting). Sad thing is if they dont honor it really there isnt much you could really do. Most ppl are just little 14 year old kids running a hosting company off some crapy reseller account or maybe be blessed to have a dedicated server but see the thing is as soon as a 14 year old gets money he runs down to the movies and buys movie tickets. I myself when i offer money back i make sure i leave the money in the account till that moneyback time is over just so i know i have the funds to repay in the case of cancelation. Im not sure what you can fully do but if it is a kid you can call and find out his parents number and call them and tell them that their kid is scaming people and they probly will kncok the crap out of little jonny's head. LOL.
Odd Fact 07-03-2002, 02:23 PM Yes I to got stung several years back by the Gunnels. Luckily I had screenshots of all forms and webpages. I was able to a refund through mastercard. Search the net, the whole family has been involved in this sham foe years now.
rsbug 07-03-2002, 09:33 PM Well I have all the emails from him promising this and that. In fact he said it was being completed, then all of a sudden........no response to emails, inquires, ect. This kind of crap burns me up and if I could only find a few more victims of his lame ethics, I'd fire off a class action law suit.
Odd Fact 07-03-2002, 11:28 PM An ex customer had a web page with complete personal information, all the company names the Gunnels operated, and a list actions he took to get his money back. If I can find the link I post it. Since it has been so long I do not have any of my paperwork saved.
rsbug 07-04-2002, 03:28 PM Rox off, if you do find some info on this it would be appreciated. Just send me a PM.
Thanx
rtsit 07-05-2002, 03:03 AM I'm pretty sure that super.nu is located outside of the USA.
No matter what, any company that has no easily accessible phone number posted on their website should be avoided!!!!
JamRover 07-05-2002, 03:11 AM Any company that offers 2GB space for $5 has to be credible!

I wouldn't say that. Site5, which is one of the highest respected hosting companies according to many people on these forums, doesn't have a phone number. Having a phone number to contact someone for whatever reason doesn't justify a company as automatically being good. Giving excellent customer service and support achieves that goal. With or without a phone number. Just my opinion, though...
the elf 07-05-2002, 04:50 AM I would think that if a host fails to list/provide their phone number (or a phone number + address) why would a customer trust them? If it gets real bad who would they contact? The BBB/Police <add more here>??
Sure they can provide the best email/live support around, but what if you pay for a full year, only use six months (since the host died) and want a refund. How would you go about it with only email contact (which would bounce if they died)??
I've checked out a few hosts that post here and in the contact us area all you see is a "email us" form. That's not the kind of company most would deal with (if they had brains).
tazd9t9 07-05-2002, 05:48 AM I would sign up witha company with no phone number, we don't provide one ourselves.
We have email, AIM and MSN if the customer really wants our number they can have it and a few have but we dont provide it on the site.

That's silly! I list all that info (I have nothing to hide), address, phone, toll-free, everything.
