View Full Version : How does ENom compare to Stargate?
webpromo 02-20-2007, 11:21 PM I need to move about 100 domain names from RegisterFly to another registrar. I currently have a StarGate reseller account and can move them there at $5.95 per domain.
I would like to have an auto-renew feature but StarGate doesn't offer this at the moment. I'm considering ENom but want to get other opinions about them. I know that I heard some things about them not doing too well after the BulkRegister.com purchase.
eNom are the second largest registrar and the 1st largest reseller registrar. They have a great control panel. Their support has deteriorated over the last 6 months what with the extra burden placed on them by Bulk Register and Registerfly customers, but they have announced steps to rectify this. eNom require deposits in order to avail of their reseller pricing https://www.enom.com/pricing.asp#reseller or you can pick up a free sub-account from most eNom ETP's giving you $8.95 pricing.

You may already have moved on this.
But, as a StarGate Reseller I would move to StarGate at the $5.95 transfer fee.
Another option is SRSPlus. They have auto renew available. Their rate is $7.95 but you may work a deal if you contact them personally.

Currently? Their support was HORRENDOUS back in 2004 when I was serioius about joining them. We're in 2007 and obviously some things never change.
I've been pretty happy with Direct, although I must admit I have not had any new transactions for a long while. I am actually in the $6.75 .com slab since back then it was only $70 to get into that slab price. Now it's about $499 I believe? In any case, their support is usually superb and I rather have that than be able to sell a domain name a dollar cheaper but get no where and never receive any responses from eNom. I actually sent in a support question to Directi the other day, this is the third day I hear no response. I think this is the longest I've had to wait for a response from Directi.

I've raised 3 support issues in the last month.
One about their website - which is still outstanding, but not business critical to us
One about a failed push - which was answered in 1h47m with "a technician will need to fix" and was completely solved by the next day
One requesting logs of transfer requests as part of a legal case regarding domain theft - which was answered in 2h9m requesting additional details which were supplied, and the logs were provided 40minutes after they got the fax.
Saying that they lost all our old (some of it outstanding) support requests when they migrated to the new system which I wasn't originaly happy with.
So, not perfect, but certainly not what some will claim.
Remember that enom prioritise support to their direct customers first. As if you're a sub-account you really should check with whomever is "upstream" of you not go direct to enom.

Even these numbers does not correspond with the number that eNom uses on their own webpage.
eNom claims to have 8,894,746 domains on their platform and Registrarstats say that eNom has 7,087,700
How does eNom define the term "the eNom Platform" and where is the difference located?
Sammy :)
Bashar 03-05-2007, 09:03 PM enom platform means if you register a domain at my registrar and use enom's dns hosting service this will be counted as their platform
also registrars using enom's registrarPDQ.com's system like vividdomains.com their customers will be counted as using their platform
:)
