What are the best solutions out there for when you want an SMS sent to your mobile phone when you receive a certian email? Does anyone use anything similar. I'm from Australia too, so I'd preferably like to hear from fellow Aussies who do this. Although I'd still like to hear from folks outside Australia etc.. :)

Thanks heaps.

Here in the UK....

I have a Vodaphone mobile phone and have a free account with their web-based service Vizzavi. With this service I get an email address (webmail) that sends an SMS when an email is received. Basically, for all important email addresses I have a copy sent to this address and I get an SMS. Then, every week or so I log into the webmail and delete all emails.

Just for the reference of anyone, I used to have an Orange phone and the setup was identical (via orange.net).

If I were you, the first thing to check would be your mobile phone service provider.... here in the UK they are all getting involved with web-based services so I'm sure its the same in Aus.

Hope this helps anyway :)

check out some links for "sms gateway" or something similiar. I remember I spot a few sites that provide this type of service - a real SMS gateway, not just email to sms :)

By the way - ask your cell phone company if they provide free email to sms gateway - usually all cell phone companies offer this service for free (some have daily message limits, but still better than nothing..)...

If you're with Telstra, check this (https://telstra.com/tcoma/registration/notifyme/welcome.asp?) link as a possible solution.

Thanks but all I get is a go back to Telstra.com text.

I'll do some digging. :)

Ummm, okay, the slightly longer way:

www.telstra.com home page,

The second orange section at the top,

The second from the right icon - notify me

Do you have something like hotmail.com over there? They offer something that might work, and it's free...

I figured all that out :)

So I signed up and hooked up the SMS to the @telstra email I got. How long does it take for your SMSs to come through usually?? It takes around 15minutes in my testing. I was hoping for a bit faster than that.

A mate of mine suggests it usually less than a minute, and that's over a period of about 4 months of use.

Unless Telstra are having one of their off days
