View Full Version : Why can't I post links?
CollegeLifeCS 02-19-2007, 10:40 PM Hello,
I want to post links and possibly use some smilies in my posts... but everytime I do, I get an error. It says I need 5 posts, but I have made seven, eight including this one. And still no smilies or links are allowed.
I would have pm'ed an admin, but that is also not allowed.
What can I do? Who can fix this?
Thanks for your time.
Nick H 02-19-2007, 10:47 PM You have to have 5 posts before you can post links or use private messages.
And, to save you starting a new thread: You have to have 10 posts and be a member for 7 days before you can post in the advertising forums.
It might be worth your time to read: The Rules (http://www.webhostingtalk.com)
[Also this thread should be in Questions/Feedback]

Cheater :P It wasn't when I posted ;)
CollegeLifeCS 02-19-2007, 11:01 PM Thanks!
Sorry for posting in the wrong section.
Also, just a quick question... I have been looking around for a while and I registered last week with a new account but, didn't have a name for my company when I created that account. Anyways, the reason I bring it up is, would it be possible to merge my two accounts? Or just, change the username on my old account and delete this one? I would love to find a solution that would eliminate the 10 day waiting period. But, I can understand if not.
I realize I am most likely breaking another rule which would state you can not register more than one account, but I swear, I'm not trying to cause a fuss, just trying to let people know about my service and contribute to the community you guys have built.
I'm new, as you can tell, so please, have mercy. (Here is the place where I would insert an innocent smilie.. but, I can't do that just yet.)
Thanks guys.
Two accounts? Well thats a direct ticket to hell here at WHT mate.
No no, just kidding (like you didnt know that :P). I know VB has that capability but not sure if WHT's policy allow them to do this.
I remember a thread where one of the liaisons suggested to delete one of the account the user does not want.
Lets see what the WHT liaisons/leaders have to say.
CollegeLifeCS 02-19-2007, 11:07 PM The one I created last week was all my personal information, and the one I created today was with all the business info. Also, last week was while I was at school on my laptop, and this account is at home, on my pc, so there should be no connection. Just, trying to get my problem solved.
Thanks for the comedic relief though. I don't like breaking rules.
(Also, you have no idea how hard it is to type without smilies! (Here is another place where I would place a smilie.))
Contact the helpdesk right away and tell us the other name. I'm sure we can do something.
CollegeLifeCS 02-19-2007, 11:11 PM Thanks a lot bear.
I'll get on that. :)
EDIT: YESSSS!!! Smilies!!
I'd suggest you not delay if you wish to avoid a warning...;)
CollegeLifeCS 02-19-2007, 11:26 PM I already completed a help ticket but.. warning? :nervous: why?
Because of the rules about multiple usernames:
You are permitted a maximum of one account, active or inactive, regardless of how many companies you represent. If you choose to ignore this important restriction, all your accounts will be disabled.I don't see a ticket from you, are you sure you followed all the way through submitting it?
CollegeLifeCS 02-19-2007, 11:32 PM I'm 95% sure.
Would you suggest giving it another go?
Well, there are some areas of the helpdesk I can't access, but to be sure, just use the report button on one of the posts in this thread, and include the info. ;)
CollegeLifeCS 02-19-2007, 11:35 PM I used the support link at the top of the page. Is that incorrect? Also, I don't recall getting a ticket # nor an e-mail.. Would that mean I never did submit a ticket?
Probably. I believe you need to hit submit on the second page as well. The help desk offers some suggestions to answer your question on that first page before submitting.
CollegeLifeCS 02-19-2007, 11:40 PM Didn't see that tiny little red button at the bottom. heh.
Should be all set now. Let me know if you can't see it.
Thanks a lot for your help bear.
Got it, and resolved. Thanks for telling us about it.
