You can either go with Dual/Quad core Xeons or Core 2 Duo servers. If you are starting off and have customers not using that many resources, you can even go with P4 servers (on which you can put many websites) which you can find great deals on in the Dedicated offers section.

It all comes down to how many accounts are on the particular hardware. An overloaded quad machine will operate worse then a lightly loaded P4 so it's all relative.

As Rich already said, performance-wise, it is relative.
But if you're asking spec-wise, aplushosting and webnx are offering some real monsters.

I agree. I like it better to go with mid-range servers, than to get 1 huge one :)
