View Full Version : WHT Search not working correctly

Hello-

I realize work was just done on the WHT database, but thought I would mention this. I am not able to search for certain things.

For instance, if I type in Perfecthost , it can't find it...or MCHost(only one thread from the middle of last year), or SplashHost. When I typed in HostingMatters for a search, it pulled up threads only from last year.

Any ideas?

Yea, I just did a search on "dot5hosting" all dead. I'm sure they will sort it out soon:)

Temporarily disabling search while I rebuild the searchindex.

At 400k posts it's gonna take a bit, but seeing as it didnt seem to be working right before.

:bawling: I need my search. :bawling:

I've forgotten how to surf the forum any other way. :bawling:

I just go to refresh "Search for new posts" and BAM!!: "Sorry. The search function has been disabled by the administrator."

:bawling: I can't take it! :bawling:

I think I shall go mad. :buck:

How will newbies be told to use the search function in a condescending manner, now?:D

It'll be fixed, just taking forever, it's on thread 15,000 out of 50,000, it's been going for about 2 hours now, so needless to say, it's not quick.

Yea reindexing a site this big is not a small task. Go check your load averages, I bet you will be suprised ;)

Been watching them like a hawk. :) Getting ready to pass that off to someone else though and hit the hay, he's going to keep an eye on it and re-enable searching when it's done.

Just wonder why do you need to rebuild it?

Its been down for like 8 hours now. Seems like it must take a long time. Anyone know the status of this?

The rebuild came because if you read the top of the thread, the search was not working properly to begin with.

On a side note. . . . . . . . .Well, not too far off to the side. . . . . . . . .More like; really close to what the thread is about. . . . . . . . Whoops . . . . . . . . . Not really close . . . .. . . More like with back to the subject matter . . . . . . . . Well; somewhat . . . . . . .

It's nice, well in a "Oops. Did I just drop my bowling ball on your foot?" kinda way, to see that so many missed the search function. :)
