I've been thinking over this idea for a while and I'd like to know your opinion.

I've done a few small discussion board systems for lite private distrobutions for intra nets that have basic functions like (admin, PMs, deleting posts, etc)...

I've been thinking about taking some of the great aspects of alot of boards I've seen and combining them all into a brand new one. (NOT RIPPING, but, using as inspiration.. Thin line I know)

But, the question is whether or not there is even room in the market for a new discussion board. I know there is no way I could ever compete w/ VBull. Some of the stuff the have in their boards (mainly addable modules and hacks, and highly skinnable) I don't have the coding skills to do. But, is there room for a none skinnable (but, color customizable) and completely (but, more)functional board for sale. I'm looking at a liscence price of about $20 for a full one domain name liscence...


Do you think that people would buy it? (Obviously this is dependent on the quailty of the board itself :D but, imagine a good board)...

I personally think it is a great idea.. BUt you have to figure with all the free boards out there is it going to work. NOW if you could come up with someone close to vB and offer all its features for 20 bucks well then I'll take 2.. good luck

I obviously am not going for a complete rip of VB but, what features do you consider most important about VB.

One of the best things about VB, IMHO, is its clean, professional appearance. I run a phpBB and get tired of the cartoonish look. In function, they all seem quite similar to me. I think you have a very good idea, there is room for something different ... and less expensive! :)

I don't think there is personaly there is allot of free ones out there that are designed by the proe's
