I just found out that i will be getting digital cable in my area in a few months from now and have a few dumb questions to ask about it.

If i have digital cable can you get cable Internet?

Don't you need to have fiber optic cable lines before you can get digital cable? My cable bill said that we will get a free preview of digital cable next month and i don't see how they can do that if you need fiber optic cable lines first.

Do you need a digital TV to get the clear picture that digital cable has? My TV is 20 years old :)

No, my friend ha Digital Cable, and he has a TV about 6 years old, Just as long as they can hook it back up, the picture is just more defined, they run cable internet off your cable wires as i understand it.

Digital cable can run through regular cable lines. It's the data that is being sent that is different. With digital cable don't you need a decoder as well?

well in NC in my neighborhood, phone company got time warner to fiber optic cheaper than they could lay it out. So maybe thats what they are doing for you maybe not...I dunno anymore.
