Zorbs 07-02-2002, 03:13 PM Matt's replies on this board are what guided my decision to go with site5. He was unfairly being attacked by someone and remained helpful and courteous. The downtime is minimal, support is FAST, and they always keep the customers informed via email of even the possibility of 10 minutes downtime.
I have absolutely no complaints :) for me that's phenomenal.
mwatkins 07-02-2002, 09:17 PM Were you just feeling good when you posted this, outta the blue?
Yeah, I like them too. :)

Well, the way he phrased it we is. :)
I'l glad we're not though. That means I'd have to be working triple hours (triple eek  ).
But honestly--thanks for the kind words everyone!
edude 07-03-2002, 05:20 AM lol, thanks for the clarification on this one matt ;)
markblair 07-03-2002, 08:07 AM Site5 is a very classy hosting company. I don't recall too many negative posts about them and anyone that did have a problem in the past was happy with any resolution offered by Matt. He's always been extremely professional which should help others to see what it takes to keep customers and win some new ones. Good job to the entire Site5 staff.
erick_p 07-19-2002, 07:52 PM site5 is a great company, very good support and all. but their speeds are horrendous. compared to pair or venturesonline, my websites hosted with site5 were very slow. something to keep in mind.
Synthetic 07-19-2002, 09:13 PM I've had nothing but good experiences with Site5. As for speed, everything seemed reltively fine. It was never an issue for me.
yeswebmaster 07-19-2002, 09:21 PM I've been with Site 5 for... is it 3 years already? Anyways, there was some trouble today, my site was down about half the day, but that's the first time in months.
Keep up the good work!
xharine 07-19-2002, 09:58 PM One of my client's sites is on site5 for a year already...and counting. =)
erick_p 07-19-2002, 11:38 PM it is probably ok in terms of speed for most websites, but if you have a website that needs to be fast -- or people would go to a competitor -- then i will not recommend site5. fast and good support is not the only criteria. but yes, it is a great firm!
I agree with everything said in this post. The staff at Site5 is the most professional and curteous bunch of people (or bunch of person, if the above post is true) that I have ever had the pleasure to work with since becoming a web developer. Rock solid support, and uptime is great- they really know what they are doing. But, I have experienced some slow delivery too- if this wasn't the case it is likely I would host every shared hosting site of mine on Site5. Great people over there. Hopefully they will grow just fast enough to maintain the wonderful job they are doing, and then afford to step up the network a bit. They are likely the best crew on the web these days.
Just my two cents.
Keep up the great work Site5.

Thanks for the kind, objective review of our service. It's actually very helpful for us to know about issues like the one you mentioned--obviously so that we can work to resolve them.
I am, however, curious about your analysis of our network performance--how long ago were you using our service? The reason I ask is that about two weeks ago, we made a major change to our network infrastructure and removed a router that was creating a very large bottleneck for traffic entering or leaving our network. After making this change, we have had reports of speed increasing well over 1000% for some people (myself included--I was just downloading a file at over 2.5 MB/sec a couple of days ago from one of our servers).
If you believe that this speed issue is still present, I would definitely like to know about it so that we can look into it further and see what else can be done.
Thanks in advance!

it was awhile ago, so I don't remember my exact state of mind...but yeah, I was probably in an unusually charitable mood..
my sites are down right now though, I'm wondering of it has anything to do with NAC being down as I am seeing in another thread?

If you email shared@site5.com with a traceroute, someone will look into the problem for you ASAP--as always.

I will vouch for that as well. I was monitoring very closely a new server I have co-located with Site5 and measured the before and after picture - no question there was a network bottleneck for a period of time and no question it is gone.
I get reports of > 3MB/s download from my server following the network change.
Through the process I again got to see them at work and note their obvious care for their customers. That sense of duty is one of the fundamental reasons why I give them my business.
