Hi,

I am a small canadian webhost seeking local market. I have since 2 years a reseller package in a server located in USA. I got also one customer from USA.

I am wondering about paying tax in both country. Do you have some experience in that field? i am leasing some space on USA but do not possess the material.

Thank you for your help.

Unless you're making over $30,000 a year with the business in question you DO NOT have to collect GST. Additionally, you would not have to collect tax from any client outside of Canada.

It's important to note that you still may have to collect a provincial sales tax... so it would be best to speak to someone who understands the tax regulations for Quebec.

what about the data located in USA?

Should i have to delcare revenue to USA government or because i am offering the service in quebec, i only have to declare it to canadian and quebec government?

I have less than 1k revenue a year and with the expense i make a benefits of 0$ (Its even more a passion i have a full time job elsewhere).

i am just wondering if im ok with USA. For Canada and Quebec its ok i was informed earlier.

You would not have to declare anything to the US Government. :)

You should *really* talk to an accountant in your area to get the correct information you need. Its not entirely wise to take legal or tax advice from a message board. No one is going to be held liable for your tax mistakes except YOU.

Sorry for my bad english but when you say would, do you mean have?

"I don't have to declare..."

And last question, what about if i got a USA customers... is it the same pattern?

Thanx Tina,

I'll also have to agree with Tina,

While my information does come from H&R Block, it would depend on the provincial tax laws for your area and any other special circumstances that you may have.

Definitely a good idea to talk to an accountant, but you do not need to worry about paying tax to the US government for money you collect from US customers. You're not a US citizen, you don't need to pay US taxes.

Think, why do companies go offshore? ;)

You pay Canadian taxes, you do not pay US taxes because you are not a citizen, it's as simple as that.

You must pay Canadian taxes for profit you made in the US.
