Dear All
How much do you people pay per month for bandwith charges for your dedicated servers. I have 2 systems with rackspace limited. One on Linux and other on Nt.
They are very good for technical support , but they charge me 3 dollars per gb per month , and they have given only 10 gb free with server.
To start with it was okay but i think that it can turn out to be expensive later.

Having 10 gig of data transfer is like hyaving the SpaceShuttle to take you to school.
I don't want to slate rackspace as I know they are an excellent setup- however there are huge extra costs involved there- such as bandwidth.
Anyways:
Many hosts now offer 75-100 gig of data as part of their packages. Additional bandwidth can be bought from anything from $1 to $15 a gig- $3 or $4 being the norm. It's always worth buying in chunks if possible

Nobody goes to Rackspace.com for discount hosting. Their forte is managed servers, which means you don't have to worry about the technical details of running a server, they do (and they do it very well, from everything I've read). You have to decide if it's worth the extra few hundred dollars a month you're paying.

You bet it was 2 gb a month when i initially signed up but they increased it to 10 gb from the next month for all their custmers.
And how much you pay for ip addresses. They give only one by default and every additional are 2 dollar a month.
Mostly we do name based hosting but dedicated ip is reqd for some sites where we would use SSl .
Initially it was ok but as time goes things are becoming more expensive.
Well we might switch after our contract is over with them.
Suggestions anyone. I can handle linux machine with webmin. I need connectivity as fast as Rackspace. Bandwith atleast 40 Gigs and lower rates for additional ips.
