View Full Version : Doubt regarding Cerberus Helpdesk
web_host_guy_007 02-10-2007, 11:38 AM http://www.cerberusweb.com/free_version.php
The above site quotes the following
You are limited to 3 users
My question - Is it 3 customers or 3 staff members who can manage the help desk?
Patrick 02-10-2007, 11:59 AM That would be 3 staff members. :)
identifydns 02-10-2007, 02:29 PM Cerberus Helpdesk is a great software and somemore is free
web_host_guy_007 02-11-2007, 11:36 AM The software looks good but I am unable to see any option to set priority levels such as Emergency, Urgent like that.

I would send an email over to them to check if thats possible, for something that's free, it is definitely worth a try, especially when it sets you with 3 staff member limits which is probably more than enough for most.
Cheers
SS-Juan 02-12-2007, 10:56 AM The only serious limitation that the free version of Cerberus has is you can only receive e-mail from a single e-mail address. You can't (for example) have sales@yourdomain.com and support@yourdomain.com automatically have tickets created - you will have to pick one or the other.
The other limitation is you don't get any licenses for their Workstation product. I haven't used this yet, so I don't know if it is worth losing sleep over.
But yes, I agree - for a small host, the free Cerberus is an excellent tool, and if you outgrow it, it will be very easy to upgrade to a paid version.

Yep, and the fact is I'm sure you can easily work with one email address, and just make users submit tickets directly, or try setting up some email forwarders for the piping ;)
Cheers
ttechpt 02-12-2007, 08:25 PM I agree with you, for a free system it is very good.
We've been using it over almost 4 month an has working great.
The only problem I found is the admin GUI, that is not so simple. Sometimes I feel that it could be done a little less complicated, but with time people started to get used to it.
mark_fric 03-25-2007, 04:15 PM Exactly, Cerberus GUI is little bit complicated to use, and we had a bug with searching which they were not able to reproduce and correct.
We used normal paid version for more than 2 years, and recently we moved to simpler and faster, AJAX based system.
