Hi everyone,
What are the fair, unbiased, uncorrupt web hosting lists out there? And what are the biased ones? Atleast if it's not a permanent trait, please post the present fairness levels of the host dir sites.

Since I joined this forum, I never ventured out into the open to look for hosts. Now, I would like to consult with the unbiased host dirs, create a short list (which may include some new cos that may not be known here) and then ask the big guys here for their opinions.

So please post the names of both the reliable and corrupt web host dirs, so that I and other newbies can learn about them.

No matter what a host list says, if you see advertising banners all over the site, there's going to be some level of bias. If a host pays them x amount of dollars per month to run their bright, flashing, blinking ads and the host list proclaims them a horrible host, x amount of dollars quickly becomes x=0. Are you following my algebra? x=$ is better than x=0.

This is off-topic but interesting. Know there is a way to prove 1 = 0 or 1 = 2 or anything = anything else for that matter.

Let's prove 1 = 3

Let x =1, y=1

So x = y
Now, 1(x-y) = 3(x-y)

So, divide both sides by x-y
(a little assumption - dont evaluate x-y now.)

You get 1 = 3

Q.E.D.

Okay, point accepted. I'll watch out for those ads next time when I visit a host list.

I'll have to run that one by my professor. I've been staring at it for the past five minutes trying to figure out how it's possibly right. The only reasoning I can come up with is that order of operations states that you always do what's in the parenthesis first. PEMDAS

And as for host lists, if they were truly objective, you wouldn't see C|Host at the top of so many of them.

Actually, if you do not evaluate x-y first, you cannot make the assumption that 1(x-y) = 3(x-y).

Of course, that's what defines this little exercise as a joke instead of a proof. You're using some of the rules of mathematics to make the point, but explicitly breaking one of them in the process.

Anyway, on topic, I don't think I've seen any host list that didn't seem to me to show some biases.

I am testing this theory. http://www.hostindex.com offers a top 20 hosts in where you send them hits and they put them listed by referrer. Well I know I am probably sending more traffic then anyone there and if I do not get listed we know they are biased and they are going to get a sweet little email from me :). It is also funny that the top 5 there are the top 5 advertisers on their site. hehe

Hello
In the UK there is an Association of Fair Trading ISP's.
This mainly relates to domain registration.
When you jopin you get a logo on your site that people can click on to see your stated policies on domain transfers and registrations.

Go to:
http://www.hostroute.co.uk/ and you can click on our logo and see what it says about us.

Its not perfect but it is a step in the right direction.

You gotta evaluate this in the multiplication step, but not in the division step.

Got that? Do PEMDAS while multiplying. There is no parenthesis in the denomiantor. So when you divide before you subtract, it works.
