View Full Version : Expirefish - what am I paying them for??

I signed up with Expirefish a couple of months ago and am paying $9.99/month for domain name monitoring. I have three domains on the list. This morning I happened to check the whois for one of the domains, and it's available! So of course I registered it, but I was sure I'd added it to my list at Expirefish. I checked and sure enough, there it still sits on my list.

Isn't the whole point of Expirefish that they'll "catch" a domain for you when it expires? It's not much good if they don't actually DO THAT. And it's not like someone else got to it first -- it was available, right out there in the open.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I sign up single domain monitoring with them.

I have already tried twice to cacth at least 2 very good hosting service related domain, which has already expired at that time and was put on hold by the registry. But has no luck yet.

Someone (yes, the same person!!) using onlinenic registrar could catch those domain faster than expirefish action.
S*ck ehhh.. :(

I wouldn't have even minded so much if someone else had been able to snag the domain before Expirefish, right when it became available. But to just happen to check the whois and find it available... who knows how long it had been sitting there. I suppose it's possible that I logged on at just the right time and it was dropped this morning, but it took me a good 15 minutes to register it (some kind of problem Dotster was having validating my credit card), so wouldn't Expirefish have been able to grab it within that timeframe, even if I'd checked the whois at the precise moment the domain was dropped (which is HIGHLY unlikely)?
