My backups of the forum used to be around 170mb and increasing. Hosting company changed a server and now, backups are under 100mb, how is that possible? without loosing data?

does ordinary cpanel backup also store server logs? I think that's the reason for the drop...

Well, there is no reason for the diskspace to drop so much since the host is using direct transfer. You might want to check this out with your webhosting provider.
