View Full Version : Transfering domains...

I need to switch hosts, because my old one is closing. Right now the hosts I'm considering are WebCinch and HostGator, but I don't want to trust them with my doamins. No bad experiences with domains and hosts, but I'd rather have complete freedom and not get pushed into a blackmail situation.

So...my question is where. Right now I have 7 domains to transfer and 1 currently residing at 1&1. For the rest of them please comment on the following hosts:

- 1&1: It's worked well for me, but I've heard about a lot of complaints. Apparently it's not that great...? When I first started with them, the domain was pretty slow, although that was gone within a week.

- GoDaddy: I know it's super popular...but I don't know if it deserves to be. 1&1 seemed to beat it at everything in my opinion.

- StarGate: Good prices, but horrible control panel from what I've heard.

- eNom: Requires registeration to be able to transfer domains. Don't really want to jump through hoops...

Any other suggestions, or does my list of 4 have a winner in it?

Thanks for the help!

It entirely depends on what your expectations from your registrar are. Stabbing in the dark, I'd say NameCheap are a good choice. They're an eNom reseller with their own control panel. Then buy your hosting from someone else.

I agree with stu2.
NameCheap is where I have most of my domains and I couldn't be happier.
