Who has the biggest market share? Is it cPanel, Plesk or Ensim?
![]() | View Full Version : Who has #1 market share - cPanel or Plesk Ulysses 02-03-2007, 01:51 AM Who has the biggest market share? Is it cPanel, Plesk or Ensim? -OY- 02-03-2007, 02:16 AM cPanel I would believe. Tailseh 02-03-2007, 03:05 AM It has to be cPanel.. almost every host uses cPanel/WHM. kapone_pt 02-27-2007, 12:04 PM For now CPanel in Linux and Plesk in Windows, but some European Datacenters are provide Plesk only right now, but i think Plesk is to buggy in Linux. DeVious HostinG 02-27-2007, 12:47 PM cpanel, no doubt!! Saksher 02-27-2007, 01:23 PM On linux, cPanel is always been a dominating control panel not because they're the first but they're the best. Yes, now Plesk is been offered by many EU data centers but still cPanel is offered by almost every linux provider unlike Plesk. Without cPanel, linux hosting services are incomplete. Blessed. keywolf 02-27-2007, 01:32 PM I wonder when cPanel will go windows igy 02-27-2007, 01:36 PM I wonder when cPanel will go windows Yeah, for years I have wondered.. I am not sure what happen but last June at the cPanel Seminar they kept saying how close they were to releasing it and that there would have been announcement at the hostcon 2006. Not sure what happen IHSL 02-28-2007, 12:39 AM It's hard (probably impossible) to say, really. Plesk and cPanel are popular in single server environments with leased machines, but there's also many companies using multi-server environments (and management panels to control them) that it would be a tough call. You'll never get any numbers on this, not least because licensing schemes are much different across different panels. Simon Cirtex 02-28-2007, 12:46 AM It's hard (probably impossible) to say, really. Simon Yep, but most users running their own dedicated servers are on single cpu machines most likely and running linux using cPanel, and with so many VPS out there, I would imagine cPanel being the #1 choice for most people ;) Mxhub 02-28-2007, 12:54 AM Very obvious.. it going be cPanel . Survey, guess, WHT, etc. It can't be even remotely correct because there's no cpanel for Windows. Microsoft has a 30+% market share (http://news.netcraft.com/archives/web_server_survey.html) on servers. Simon Ulysses 02-28-2007, 01:07 AM Where does the "most users" quote originate? Simon Slightly off topic, but I think you'll find Windows only has around 18% of server market. EDIT: ie one survey does not necessarily make the findings definitive. carlgm 02-28-2007, 01:15 AM I think you'll find it's more than 18% unless you mean WHT members servers market share? ;) IHSL 02-28-2007, 01:19 AM Slightly off topic, but I think you'll find Windows only has around 18% of server market. EDIT: ie one survey does not necessarily make the findings definitive. Netcraft is as definitive as you're going to get, not to mention very reputable. That 18% must have come from another similar site, which one? Back on topic: You're unfortunately going to have to go on hearsay on this topic. There's no reputable source that has done such a survey (and it would be very hard to do). Simon simplifyws 02-28-2007, 06:22 AM for sure, cpanel. TonyB 02-28-2007, 12:34 PM Well I think cPanel is the winner here 90% of dedicated providers provide it and I bet the majority of the users ordering control panels pick cPanel. Ryan - HostATree 02-28-2007, 05:14 PM I would say with out a hitch, cPanel. Their software is truely amazing and uncomparable to any other platform out there. Biju 03-01-2007, 06:18 PM Cpanel the simple answer. DATARTIM 03-01-2007, 06:19 PM No Contest , Cpanel. cherdre 03-01-2007, 06:44 PM I would think it would be Cpanel as the others have stated. mrzippy 03-07-2007, 07:13 AM I would say that cpanel is the most popular? Why do I say this? Because they are the slowest to implement bug fixes and new features. And only a company that has a huge lead on the market can afford to slowly kill their business in such a way. ;) networkegypt 03-09-2007, 01:55 PM in My Opnion Cpanel Is #one But don`t forget HSphere also it`s too hard and complicated that`s what make it have less share but belive me it`s the better CP i have seen. it`s wonderfull one with cluster support and alot of features you will alawys like it Andrews860 03-09-2007, 09:28 PM I would say cPanel for Linux and Plesk for Windows. tickedon 03-10-2007, 11:39 AM On Linux, I'm pretty sure cPanel has the lead by quite a bit. On Windows, Plesk wins by default out of the two. As to which one has more share overall, I'd hazard a guess at cPanel since Linux is more popular, but, who knows :) Sohan 03-10-2007, 05:18 PM cPanel, DirectAdmin, Plesk. I've not seen more than 1-2 plesk providers, 5-6 DA providers, and the rest all have their own or cPanel. SeriousServers 03-14-2007, 05:50 AM Cpanel.. Period. pacificwing 03-17-2007, 11:26 PM Cpanel seems to be the most common. Am I alone in the fact that I prefer Direct Admin? layer0 03-17-2007, 11:29 PM Am I alone in the fact that I prefer Direct Admin? Not at all. :) linktome 03-18-2007, 12:06 AM Between cPanel and Plesk, I think cPanel is the winner. However, as some people stated above, we prefer DirectAdmin. Very stable, and I believe they will get more and more market share |
