I have a old peace of crap computer with a 4gb hard drive and 128 ram. Couple weeks ago I noticed that everytime I start up a application it takes lots of space of the hard drive..like when I turn the computer on I have 1.1gb left and when I start Adobe Photoshop it goes down to 500mb. Do you guyz know why that happens...I'm running Windows 98

2nd Problem, Well you know when windows starts and all the programs load up in the task bar? Well when my windows loads up all these programs start loading up....it's like the computer never stops loading....the program names are weird too like Klitsdsdk and Wcwdlkfj....also Internat or something like that loads up too. I have to press Contrl, Alt Delete and shut the programs down manually everytime I start up the computer...it's really annoying...this problem started just couple of days ago...dont know why everything was fine before.

Sorry if I have some spelling mistakes. :)

Im assuming it is swap space thats being used, click properties on mycomputer and manually config virtual mem. As for the other thing, ge aatools, search yahoo for windows port scanner, its from like g-lock.com or something, it will help you clean up startup programs and whatnot

Reformat your harddrive, then re-install Windows 98.

For your first problem, its prolly Windows virtual memory, and photoshop's "scratch disks".

2nd problem... Go to "start" > "Run", and type in "msconfig" and click the "startup" tab... There is a list of the programs that start up with your computer. Uncheck the ones you dont want to start up. :)

That's not the key to everything..maybe most things, but not all :)

But true, if you don't have any important, valuable information that you haven't already backed up, go ahead and reformat your harddrive(s). You'll find that even your old computer will run quicker again.

Abandon computers entirely at your earliest opportunity.

Take up something more challenging, like making Easter baskets.
