My personal recommendation for Linux is cPanel (http://cpanel.com) and for windows, it Hosting Controller (http://hostingcontroller.com). crazylane 02-25-2007, 02:52 PM Direct Admin jbwebhosting 02-26-2007, 05:36 AM HSPComplete is nice but expensive. An alternative might be HyperVM which is much cheaper.. kapone_pt 02-27-2007, 12:02 PM I have used various, in my opinion i prefer Cpanel for linux and Plesk for Windows mooodi 03-10-2007, 04:59 AM Well you should look over Hosting Controller version 7 which I think is best in hosting panels inscyber 04-15-2007, 07:31 PM I would say DirectAdmin, it's faster, cheaper and more stable than cpanel. Glostar 04-16-2007, 04:00 AM Cpanel is popular and easy. I like it Planpro 05-02-2007, 07:19 AM For windows: HELM 4 R-n-R 05-06-2007, 01:22 AM Before you make a decision on any Linux based control panel I would HIGHLY recommend you check out InterWorx, but only if you interested is good stable and secure platforms. I personally have used many of the other other "popular" panels, but popularity does not make a great control panel. InterWorx 3.0 is in RC 4 and with final stable release any time this month. Great stuff and great staff backing it up. HostingTrip 05-06-2007, 01:48 AM Hello, For any kind of hosting business I would recommend you to use cPanel. This is very good if you are looking for a Linux server, user friendly, nice looking and flexible to use. Moreover, if you use Windows Based server then I would recommend H-Sphere or CWIPanel, which looks quite nice. I hope my post helps you. Regards, Webdude 05-07-2007, 04:35 PM if you use Windows Based server then I would recommend H-Sphere . Actually Hsphere handles both quite nicely in a single package. romes 06-08-2007, 04:44 PM WHMCS is a good one. i use it, good panel. EnxWeb 06-28-2007, 02:56 PM I agree with romes, WHMCS is pretty good. If you are looking for others, try giving cPanel which is the most popular control panel software in my opinion. DirectAdmin is not bad either, I would say give the demos a shot. Creating-Dreams 07-15-2007, 03:46 PM I agree with EnxWeb, WHMCS is great for autocreation of accounts and cpanel is great, expecially if you want to offer master resellers and reseller accounts. Give it a shot and see what you think. WebJobsPT 07-15-2007, 07:04 PM my suggestion WHM/CPANEL with WHMCS :P avoid lot of work :P grind3r 10-29-2007, 12:29 PM I use H-Sphere. He is fully automated. And works with Win/Unix. supportoncall 10-29-2007, 01:05 PM Hi , If you are having any Unix flavour language I will suggest you to go with WHM / Cpanel that will be the best combination to your web server to administrate. if its windows server then go for either dotnet panel or HELM4 will be the best deal. saimmalik 11-04-2007, 02:06 PM Personally we are using Hosting Controller since 2 years and really satisfied with it.. We will recommend Hosting Controller for windows. fullws_net 11-06-2007, 12:53 PM How about Webmin? It's easy to use, easy to install. Backup is fast ;) BSD4 12-17-2007, 11:34 PM I prefer either WHMCS or cPanel. cPanel gives you many options, is quite easy to use, and has a variety of different graphical layouts. I'd recommend one of these two. romes 12-18-2007, 12:02 AM Well if you own both, then its a great combo to have. Also, if you ever switch server softwares, whmcs runs on alot of different softwares out there like plesk, and much more. So whmcs is a great software to have as a side next to your main software like cpanel/WHM, Plesk, etc. suntexssupport 01-27-2008, 10:37 AM cPanel for linux, HELM for Windows. I used LxAdmin too. Its very light, takes only a few amount of RAM. Lighter than cPanel. Fizzinghost 02-05-2008, 01:04 PM cpanel is the best, it has many advantages like stable , security, easy to use, etc... Webdude 02-05-2008, 09:18 PM cpanel is the best, it has many advantages like stable , security, easy to use, etc... Have you actually "used" anything else to be able to claim that? IntnsRed 11-09-2010, 10:50 PM I think a lot of this depends on your target market of customers. For example, do you plan on putting up a web site and having customers create accounts in the middle of the night and as you sleep let the dollars just roll in? (This is everyone's dream, right?) If so, then one of the popular non-free commercial hosting panels would probably be your best bet. Get ready to compete with the thousands of others on the Internet... Do you know your hosting OS and are a competent SysAdmin? If so, your options expand. Myself, my primary business is consulting. My hosting accounts typically (almost exclusively) come from clients that I have a pre-existing, face-to-face relationship with. As such, I've found that a completely free (free as in "free beer" and free as in "liberty") software hosting panel is great. I often set the customer's initial web site up (it's actually easier than dealing with support calls/e-mails :-), and I'll often give them a "walk through" of their new hosting environment. They get "warm fuzzies" and after that initial introduction, it's all gravy and I rarely hear anything from them. Again, all this depends on your customers and your target market(s). We technologists can be tricked into thinking that everything is about technology. That's BS IMHO -- life and business is about people and relationships. |
