Hi. I'm very interested in starting a web hosting thing as a reseller. Can someone point me in the right direction as far as getting started. Maybe name a couple of existing companies that would be good to check out. I was looking at ReadyHosting, are they ok? I kind of liked the one plan deal they have, I want to keep it simple as possible. Thank you.

It depends on what you are looking for, but some of the companies that are currently well though of here based on my research are FutureQuest, Dynastyhost, and Venturesonline. Alot of the other companies also maintain a good presence here. Check out the advertizing forum for some other good leads.
Some advice - when you sign up, don't jump in full speed. take a few weeks and see how they handle tech support, etc. You don't want to get a bunch of clients signed up and suddenly have the rug pulled out from under you. It sucks. I've been there.
Good luck.

Check out here:

Also, look at http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?threadid=3053
There is a wealth of information, but you need to do a bit of research to find what will work right for you.

Just because a host offers several accounts that the reseller can resell, does not mean you have to offer them all. I would consider a host that has several accounts available for reselling, and then if you want to keep it simple just offer one on your site. Once you get a feel for the business you will have the flexibility to offer other accounts at a later time. If your host only offers one and you want to offer more later, you have a problem to overcome.
If you are just starting to resell hosting service, you might want to check Sierra Host at: http://www.sierrahost.com
They have good reseller plan. They have cheap packages with many features.

I resold readyhosting to a big client and regret it. Client irate over downtime. Phone tech support not available eves and weekends, I tried to post a support ticket today and couldn't because www.readyhosting.com was down! (If they can't maintain their own site....)

I will highly recommend blueboxinternet I have been with them for about a year or so they have good support, servers are always up and there prices are not that bad for a starter. I will also recommend datahosts.net they are extremely supportive and they also have verry good plans to choose from.

is now resellerconnection.com.
Also, I recommend perusing this board regularly. Resellerconnection does not really have information on most of the highly regarded resellers you see here.
