I just bought a reseller hosting account and just finished putting the site together. So what would you as fellow reseller say is the next step to get customers buying hosting. I am no good promoting site but i know its essential. I am more of a design and tech guy. So where is a good point to start for some one on a budget.

To really stand out as a provider in the market, you'll need to offer something that people want, but not many hosts offer.

You should have already had this, and every other detail of your hosting venture, sorted out in your business plan. You seem to be getting the cart in front of the horse.

You should refer back to your business plan that you drew up before you started. Of course if you did not draw up a business plan all you have to do is figure out your exit strategy.

I agree. Although it doesn't hurt to have the reseller account to test your systems, it could be a waist of funds before you have the plan to support it.
It's crucial to get your feet wet, as in any business. But I would always suggest planning every foreseeable aspect of your business before launching. Including marketing.

I haven't heared much success from any who decided they wanted to be a web host and purchased a reseller account the next day. I could be wrong.

To be honest, running a reseller hosting business is tough. Im glad to hear you purchased an account because the best way to run a business is to test out software and to get a grasp of what needs to be done.

However, you should plan out your company's assests, marketing strategy and customer support before you go head in first.

Good Luck

Have you looked into Adwords? Depending on your advertising budget, you could even use Overture we had a good experience with them.

What has worked so far for me in the area of reselling webspace is local clients. I focus alot on getting local business. While the majority of our accounts are clients of our design business, I have had success offering reseller space to local designers. Thats just how I got started, it may or may not work for you.
