Hello, I signed up to paypal about 2 years ago before i signed up i phoned paypal and asked them is there an age limit on paypal as it had money involved ect.. So they said its any age.

Now my friend tried to signup to paypal and it says he has to be 18+ so i was thinking should i check with paypal am i allowed to have my bussiness account still im currently 17 but signed up 2 years ago when it was any age to signup/

Phoned them explained the best i could what i was basicly saying...

I was told 2 years ago when i signed up to my paypal at 15 it was any age limit for a paypal account and i inserted my correct date of birth.

Now i rang up explained it to the rep and he couldn't understand he said you should have read the terms and conditions when you signed up ect due to the convosation you had 2 years ago this is not related i was like im confused here...

I phoned again 15 minutes later had a completely english rep explained to me as far as im aware your allowed to use your paypal account but it can be banned at anytime i asked them if there policy has changed in the last 2 years and they basicly didn't know.

What should i do? should i wait until im banned ? anyone had similer problems ?

Thankyou,
Adam

Never had an issue with being under age, and i'm not sure why your having one. I currently have two PayPal accounts setup (one personal, one business), and have had 0 issues regarding age.

Maybe call PayPal back and ask to speak to a Supervisor or Manager?

Good luck.

Even still, why wouldn't they try to stop and underage person who has not yet reached the age of maturity in their jurisdiction at the time they try to setup the account? Doesn’t make sense that they would let a 15 year old open an account with them, and then penalize him when he inquires at the age of 17, IMO it's their own fault, considering you read PayPal's terms of service and you are entitled to open an account regardless of age.

Adam,

I would recommend that you ask Paypal to allow you to speak to a representative that speaks your native language. I had a hard time reading your post above, so I imagine any other English customer service rep at Paypal will have trouble as well.

Lie about your age in your paypal profile.

1) Get partner that's over 18.
2) Open a new business bank account (how did you open one in the first place?)
3) Get a "virtual office" mailing address and phone number.
4) Open a new Paypal business account with the new information and become verified (don't use the original name and IP address that you signed up with).
5) Click the "cancel account" link in your original Paypal account (Use the original IP that you have been loggin into your account with) since you are only allowed to have 1 business account.

Note: You can still be banned for anything!

PayPal's policy was *not* any age when you signed up. I signed up in December 2003 (3 years ago) and it was 18 and older.

Paypal (and any other company for that matter) can change their terms of service and usually in their original TOS (that the customer agreed to) it will state that you agree to abide by any future changes of the TOS or you must cancel your account.

Catch 22! even more so when dealing with a monster like Paypal.

If nobody has said anything to you in the two years you've had the account then don't worry about it. It sounds as if their customer service reps don't have a clue anyway.

Do you guys know of any way to have your paypal account verified if you are under 18.
Is it possible for someone under 18 to open a bank account???
For the whole credit card issue for confirming your address, i just get those prepaid gift credit cards and those work just fine.

Reason I am asking is because, since I sell stuff on ebay, you get more limits and fraud protection with verified accounts.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That was a good one LOL. I got my paypal when i was 17. They didn't care. In the internet when you have a debit/credit card. You can do whatever you want.
