I'm going to be selling some shareware programs that I wrote, I have a 2checkout account and am currently looking for a shopping cart that will call a php script that I write to get a serial number and let the shopping cart handle the rest, any ideas?

i have used cubecart and liked it. i think it can handle intangeble goods too.

I recommend the following shopping carts:
CRE Loaded, osCommerce, Zen Cart & osCMax

osCommerce is easy to use

ZenCart is the best and we do recommend it to our customers.

However,check www.hotscripts.com there are loads of free software that you may download.

There are a couple of specialist software distribution packages available to do exactly what you want - licensing, distribution, invoicing etc. The more general shopping carts like ZenCart and osCommerce may have this functionality as an extra module - it's not what the product is designed specifically to do. In that case you should decide whether you want a product that is designed to do that exact task, or a more general solution.

The advantage of the specialist option is of course the product is designed for that job and will be developed in the future to add relevant features.

The advantage of the general cart option is that you can expand your product range in the future to include other non software products.

Hopefully this is in time , but I wanted to inform you that PHPAudit should be your #1 choice. During this time last year, I was looking for something similiar that would streamline everything for my software. That is, handle everything from the shopping cart to the license distribution/activation. It is here where I first learned about PHPAudit and therefore want to impart my knowledge today with you.

PHPAudit is just amazing. It handles everything from "A" to "Z". The shopping cart is simple brilliant. My customers now come on my page, place their order, they are assigned with an account which contains their automatically generated license key and the encrypted download link to the digital goods. Could you ask for more? The customer activates the software and you receive an email.

The backend is very powerful. I have the option of creating and deleting clients, license keys, products and product descriptions, change pricing information, add coupons, etc. I can locate something using a predefined search term. I can set how my license key is (8 digits, 16 digits, 24 digits, you name it). I can set it to expire in 3 months if I wanted to or make it unlimited. Therefore, I can set up software demo's if I wanted to. I can also limit the user to installing the software on only one computer and preventing them from spreading the license key around or installing the program on multiple computers. I can mass mail my clients regarding new products or coupon codes. I've set it so my transactions can go through a payment gateway (2CO, paypal, authorize, etc.). Not only is PHPaudit a wonderful tool to faciliate everything to start to finish without you doing one thing, it also makes it easy for you to do all your accounting.

Don't be fooled by the name PHPAudit thinking its only for PHP scripts. I've integrated it with digital downloads (shareware, software demos, etc.) and it works wonderful. I swear by it. I've ran across esellerate which charges you a whopping 15% commission on your transactions. Are you crazy? Now I only pay 2-3% for credit card transactions and save the other 10% in my account ;)

If you are looking to protect your software while giving you the power to do everything you wanted to do as a software company, then this is the solution. They have a free PHPAudit Lite which allows you to use it for up to 15 licenses, but I would just skip that and buy the program. I made the mistake of doing the free lite program, then getting 100 licenses and now upgrading up to 1000 because I've realized its potential and the peace of mind it affords me. According to their newsletter, they have a 21% solstice sale. Better hop on it!!

Did you try shareit.com, digitalriver.com? Their specialization is software selling and they handle all the payments. And they have marketing tools, also.
