I've been playing drums for years, however haven't been involved in anything for the past year or so.

Don't play in a band. Although I have.
I play guitar nearly every day. It's my passion. Well, making music. :)

I've been a working musician...still am some of the time. I've played with several bands and stuff. The bands I've played in mainly played a lot of Texas Blues and Rock. I play keys, guitars, drums, and sing some. I love music!

Also been playing the drums for many years - did marching band in high school (played the snare) and then formed a band, we had one gig then broke up - sax player thought his gf was more important than the band! :)

Here's a pic of yours truly jammin' out on my awsome v-drums (don't want to disturb the neighbors you know).

Back in the day before my 2 year old was ever thought of, I was in a band. A very popular local band. We even were scheduled to audition for Lilith Fair in '99. We had to cancel our audition because our bassist had a family emergency at the last minute, and we couldnt' find anyone to replace him for the audition. If we wouldn't have pulled out of the audition, I think we would've made it.

I opened up for a local Michigan singer in '99 for a dozen or so shows. And I've recorded demos for songwriters, etc.

In '99, I did start on recording a CD of my own -- But stuff came up and I didn't get a chance to finish it up.

I'm a singer (though probably lacking - as its been a few since I last preformed) -- 3 1/2 octave range -- second soprano voice (but I have no problem singing first soprano ranges or first alto). And I've been professionally trained. My senior year I got a full scholarship for the Berklee School of Music in Boston. But I decided not to go. Good thing, I would've never met my husband if I would've taken the offer.

Not only do I sing, But I also play the guitar (10 years), the piano (10 years), and various other instruments over the years - but not as well as the guitar or piano.

Instead of singing and performing... I'm doing web design and web hosting... I'm not Britney Spears *shudder* or even a Sheryl Crow, Sarah McLachlan or Jewel type of singer... But I am pretty good (at least that's what other's have said). And since I moved to Florida from Michigan last year, I have done nothing as far as music goes -- the music scene isn't anything like it was up in Michigan... here, we just have cheap ol' bar bands... that's about it... no potential at all.

I play drums and have recently gotten into guitar (nice new washburn) and vocals. I do all of the above in 2 bands :)

Dang. A full scholarship for Berklee?? That's so AWESOME. Dream Theater met there, then left the school after a year or something :) (you probably don't know who they are). That's like one of the best music schools in the country, if I'm not mistaken. Another one I really like is MI up in LA. I've played the piano for about 6 years, over 4 years on the drums, I know a little on guitar, and I sing a little as well (still learning). Drums are my main instrument.

I attached a picture of me warming up at a show. By the way...those are glasses on the back of my head, not hair ;)

I've sort of put my music to the side.. the poor guitar has rusty strings :( I play drums ( pretty much all percussion really ), piano ( not very well tho ) and guitar. I am self taught in all, except I did take a few lessons on drums.

First, it seems we all play drums, heh.

Second, Dave, that a nice v-drum kit though, I've played it at guitar center, heh. If I'm not mistaken, you have a Yamaha v-kit as well (I see round grey in back of the Roland one). I have that set (same problem, neighbors).

The Roland is good, but besides that I can't stand the non-acoustic one I have. I will admit that it is a HECK of a lot easier to record them though, and they sound OK recorded. Pain in the donkey to hook mics up to regular drums, not to mention set them up, break them down. This Yamaha electocraptic kit I have folds up and I can throw it in the trunk, heh. Easy to bring to school and learn the kids some drummin', which I do every year.

erm, I'm just gonna butt in between all you band-related people and give props to those string/orchestra players. I'm a violinist (*ahem* taking a break tho) and have been involved in Symphony Orchestras for the past 6-7 years.

I wish I still had the time :bawling:

haha...

I agree with Chicken on the v-drums. They rule!! I have an acoustic set (7 piece) and I'm working on another set as well. I wish the v-drums weren't $3,000+, they rock!

Chicken, drums aren't that hard to mic up. I do it in the studio sometimes still, just because some of the guys there don't know what they're doing, but live, a sound man does it, ;) Setting up?...nah, not that hard...normally we have to be setup within 15 minutes because we're always headlining local shows now.

Anywho . . . .

Chicken -

Nope, no Yamaha drums for me :). I bought my V-drums way back when they first started becoming popular (maybe 3 or 4 years ago) and so I've got the old style cymbals (which is what you saw). I like the new ones better, but they're a bit hard on the pocket book. I've added a couple aux pads (like the two-zone bar thing they have) but the cymbals are just too much. The only way I was able to afford the set in the first place was by selling my DW accoustic. I was sad to see it go, but since I do a lot of MIDI work and live in a townhome, the V-drums were better for me.

My music-room setup:
-PII-266 w/ Cakewalk Pro
-Roland V-drums (TD-10 Module)
-Roland JC-1010 Synth
-Casio Keys (don't know the model - some mid-level junx)
-Lots of MIDI cable
-All piped out my little headphones through a Mackie 12-channel board.

Not bad for a poor-boy :)

Well I used to be a pro trumpet player.
Mainly in theatres doing stage musical work for fairly long runs.
Still play for my own amusement.
Haven't played a gig since I started the hosting business.

Mainly interested in Jazz these days.
One of these days I will get round to putting a band together.

I've been drumming half my life... I play in rock bands that always seem to break up 2 weeks after they get started...

V-Drums are a lot of fun to play on, but they're out of my price range at the moment... I'm getting along just fine on
my 1970 Ludwig Red Sparkle kit... hey what do you know, my drum set is older than I am... never thought of that before.

Dave, if you ever feel the need to give your V-Drum set away I will be more then happy to take it :)
