My new Whois Web Professional 4.0 software includes Internet Explorer integration. Once installed, the user can "whois" any website that is currently being visited by clicking the colorful box icon in the IE toolbar or by choosing "Whois Lookup" from the context menu.

An explanation of this feature can be found at:

Whois Web can be downloaded from:

OR

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.

Since you have a high post count I'm going to trust you and download it. If I get a virri I will hunt you down :D

Whois Web does not contain any spyware or virri code. It is a standard Windows 32-bit application that is installed and can be uninstalled. It was compiled with Visual Basic 6 SP5 and the installer is an Windows Installer application made with the Visual Studio Installer program from Micro$oft

The program has been developed over the last two years and I have just started trying to get more people to know about it.

Yes I checked it out. Nice program. Not sure I'll use it much though. Add a tool to search for domains through text files. For example text file 1 has abc and text file 2 has cba. Make the tool search for domains based on them.

If you could, please clarify your suggestion. Are you suggesting "command line" type interface where the program auto saves results in text files or something else?

Another possibility for a web server capable version of Whois Web would be to expose the functionality as COM objects which could be loaded in ASP scripts (at least would work on NT).

Btw. If anyone likes the program and thinks it would be a benefit to your customers/visitors, I have just setup an affiliate sales program. Affiliates will get 35% commission from each program sold through their website.

I have been using version 3.7 which is free, every time I start the program it checks for an update, I have updated several times...

What would happend if I try upgrading now??

It would download and install version 4.0, which contains some bug misc fixes, improved IP results crawling for RIPE addresses, and search history for whois lookups. Version 4.0 is now shareware so you will get an activation toolbar at the bottom of the window. The program will work indefinitely without registration, but I hope that people who use it regularly will find it within their heart to purchase a license for it. :)

I would trust Frank Rietta with his software. He is a straight forward decent guy. I am surprised why his total posts only number 155 at the moment! Because he has been known for quite some time in WHT!

If anyone cares to know, Whois Web Pro is priced at $24.95 and an upgrade is available for users of previous versions for $9.95.

Some people have asked me why I do not just leave Whois Web as freeware. I have decided to make the new Whois Web Professional shareware because I think it is a good tool and a lot of work has been put into it. I am a software developer and a student. I am trying to build an actual small business instead of going to work for some other company. I think Whois Web is a good tool for people involved in web development, web hosting, or anyone who does a lot of work with domain names. I think the program is a valuable resource and is well worth twenty-five dollars for anyone who truly uses the application.

I am now a member of the Association for Shareware Professionals (ASP) and I look forward to continue to develop quality applications for webmasters and web hosting industry professionals. :-)

My current and next application … convert Excel to MySQL – www.rietta.com/sqlconnect/

I love doing this stuff!
