Add the following in your DNS settings:
mydomain.com. NS dns1.mydomain.com.
mydomain.com. NS dns2.mydomain.com.
mydomain.com. A 211. 211. 11. 111
dns1.mydomain.com. A 211. 211. 11. 111
dns2.mydomain.com. A 211. 211. 11. 112
ftp.mydomain.com. CNAME mydomain.com.
mail.mydomain.com. CNAME mydomain.com.
www.mydomain.com. CNAME mydomain.com.
mydomain.com. MX 10 mail.mydomain.com.
211. 211. 11. 111/24 PTR mydomain.com.
Replace mydomain.com and 211.211.11.11 with your real ones.
Hope this helps :)

Hasan,
You have to register the nameservers ns1.somedom1.com and ns2.somedom1.com... You would do this through directNIC (since you registered somedom1.com there), and there's no fee for the registration.
directNIC doesn't have a web-based interface for registering a name server. Instead, you have to e-mail support@directnic.com and provide:
- directNIC username
- domain name
- IP address and prefix (ns1, ns2, etc.) of each nameserver
I registered mine last week... It took about 6 hours for the request to be processed and another couple of days for the nameservers to be visible to the world (normal DNS info propagation time).

PTR pointer defines the IP address and host name of individual hosts in the domain. Translates IP address into host names.

Rehan, is that the same process you must do for all OpenSRS front-ends?

The /24 indicates a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0
I suggest you use three IP's - One for each nameserver and one for your domain name. Don't use the same IP for the domain as you have with the nameservers. It works fine if you do, but doing a reverse lookup for your IP, will return ns1.domain.com instead of domain.com.
You must register your nameserver/IP combinations with your domain registrar. They usually become effective in 24 hours or less, unless you use network solutions, then your guess is as good as mine. Can you say

PTR records are only good if they are setup by the registered owner of the IP, usually the ISP or webhost you are using. An IP# is just like a domain name. There is registered nameservers with the record in the root nameserver database. And only that nameserver can effectively do any changes to PTR records.
