I was looking at the stats on that site for some of the hosting providers here. I'm not sure but it seems the numbers are low. Am I reading them right? If I put in a hosting provider and it says that they have 50 hosts, is that accurate?

If they offer anonymous servers/hosting for their reseller clients, then I doubt this would be accurate. Most likely the 50 accounts are shared account located within them I guess

It is not quite accurate as some may use their own private nameserver, or another anonymous DNS.

webhosting.info tracks single nameservers "unless" the host takes the time to jump through there hopes to get all there nameservers entered.

So essentially if a host were to use domain.com as there primary domain and you checked ns.domain.com but they used domain.net or domain1.com for nameservers you will get an invalid reading from them.

Pretty much sums it up right there. We actually have a few domains acting as nameservers + the resellers with their own nameservers so the stats can be really deceiving. It is of course better than no stat at all, but if the company is dealing with a lot of resellers their stats may be much lower than the the # of domains they actually host.

Not just that either. We use different nameservers for our local clients so our stats are way off simply because of that.

In reality webhosting.info is pretty worthless due to the design.

webhosting.info tracks the domains pointing on the companys' nameservers. Even if you have reseller accounts it tracks the domains they host as well, not just the reseller accounts which makes it very inaccurate.
